Our next guest are the wonderful Six Hands in Tempo, the hottest and funniest guitar trio on six legs!

Unmissable!

Six Hands in Tempo

Wednesday March 11th, Old Oak Inn, 176 Main Street, Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire, DE6 6AW

Start Time: 8pm

Entry:    £10.00 with £8.00 concession

Ticket/Seat Reservations: - 01335 345675 or keith@keithkendrick.com

Six Hands in Tempo were & are Al Harris, Steve Bailey and Dave Proctor, playing songs from the 20s and 30s, together with such immortal creations as the Western Medley and Songs from Science Fiction TV Programmes.

Six Hands also performed the occasional folk song and tune, plus a few rearranged pop songs, including an 'unplugged' Layla well before Mr Clapton.

Amazingly, with a repertoire like that, Six Hands played at Folk Clubs and Festivals all over the UK and in Europe and Canada, appeared on radio and TV, and made three albums. They also played at some spectacularly unsuitable venues, the true stories of which will be told in the fullness of time…

3 guitars and 3 voices was the norm but occasionally used were melodeon, banjo, concertina, lap steel and the famous bank of 3 monophonic Casiotone VL-1s which made some bizarre noises
Six Hands still get the occasional radio play all over the place (e.g. Deutschland radio Kultur! )

Cheers

Sylvia

Silly me, what I forgot to remind you about is the very welcoming pub - the concerts are the inspiration of the landlord, Roger Warren, who himself played in the group Saga, in the 60's and 70's, with John Squire. The pub also has it's own micro brewery - Leadmills, and the beer is wonderful.

Cheers

I intend to be there.
I used to work for Rolls-Royce with Steve Bailey in the dim and distant past.
I also recall seeing Saga (messers Warren, Richardson, Squires and Mordey)
at the Priesthouse Folk Club in Castle Donington in the late '70s.

Dave.

We were travelling north to sing and play for friends that we had never met...

Dave, It will be great to see you there on Wednesday. Have you got any stories about Steve that we can use in their introduction?

Cheers

Sylvia

No. Regretably, he's as clean as a whistle.

"and I am most wonderful poor..."

A remarkable man, then! I'm sure their banter will be more than enough for us to cope with.

Til tomorrow, then.

Barbara, you were right.

I've just got home after a wonderful evening. I've been left wondering if the guys have really only got ten fingers each, that, plus the singing, plus the amazing arrangements, plus the harmonies, plus the humour, etc, etc.

All I can say is, if you can, book them. If you know someone who runs an event and can book them, tell them to book them.

Now going to bed on a high.

Sylvia
