While sympathetic to the peace of the comatose, as a medical officer it's my duty to intervene and apply mouth to mouth on occasion.

Recently I encountered a rotund object in Ward 13. As the old Sanskrit sloka said, "akhanda mandalakaram byaptam jena characharam" - endless, round-formed, permeating all things moving and unmoving.

No, this was not the spherical, all-pervasive awareness of the Hindu universe, it was a rather large immovable object which my quick actions found to be alive. a little prodding revealed a certain catter, who shall remain nameless, but can be recognised by their obsession with donuts, and while the sound emitting from this object could have been mistaken for an "Ooommmm" I believed it to be a cross between a circular snore and a death rattle.

At once, I lept upon the prone drone, thumping the rising chest rhythmically by jumping carefully on it, as I breathed life into the old circle of flesh.

Miraculously, this man-dala came to life and started sputtering loquaciously about Jamieson's and jam donuts.

aah, the foolishness of the long distance ruminator.. but all life is precious, and the endless circle of birth, death and rebirth will yet be unbroken, as a donut is a perfect symbol of the harmony of existence - circular, sweet, and empty within, yet filled by an enormous space - the Universe itself.

They're on my list of food plants to add to our farm, but "Maine law prohibits the planting and cultivation of currants and gooseberries in most of southern Maine, and prohibits the planting and cultivation of European black currants and their hybrids anywhere within the state" so I must wander ribe-less for now, until the fear of white pine blister rust subsides. You may be able to plant the round beauties depending on your State's laws.

I kinda like cherry, blackberry, raspberry, razzleberry, and blueberry pie more than apple, but a REALLY GOOD apple pie...well, I sure as heck wouldn't turn it down. I've also had a dynamite rhubarb pie, but that's a special knack and fortunately the lady who made it gave me the recipe (a hint: you need rhubarb).

If you gently snip a circle and give it a half twist you get a Mobius strip (the topological one, not the one in the seedy bar over near Pitt where the cops keep busting all those underage frat boys).

But where there's life, there's heat (which is another cliche, of sorts).

And so I don't mind there being an open question about the state of the onion. I mean the state of the union. I mean the state of the circle and the state of other things that may need resusciation.

After all, talk is cheap, but action is expensive. (or something like that).

That in that first post of mine this morning was supposed to be part of an italic font command for the word some. But I'm sure that folks here won't let minor mistakes stand in the way of our attempts to resusciate the dead circle.

Circles are important, and even if they weren't, it would be our obligation to attempt to save them.

And btw, way back in my first post to this thread, I wrote that if I saw a circle laying on the street or on the sidewalk, I'd be concerned because I don't know "CPA". Well, I hope y'll know that I meant "CPR".

But it's also true that I don't know any CPAs.

The circle must be alive and well or else you wouldn't be able to roll. A spherical shape is a requisite of rolling. Well actually squarish cubes roll. Think crapshoot!

And while we are on the subject of crapshoot, and reportedly, life is just one big one, isn't it marvelous that since Mudcat reflects life, it must also be one big crapshoot? Some people sure do shoot off a lot of crap in here, myself included.

Back to squarish cubes, could we make a game of rolling former beatniks to see if we can make them cool sphericloids again? They often didn't punctuate academically in their everyday speech, but did very effectively in their poetry.

Now onto the subject of expiration of punctuation sometimes known as the death of Grammar (may she always be well and appropriately remembered). Properly appointed punctuation is always appropriate in schalarly and academic vein. However, it is often neglected in the cybersubculture of blogs and forums such as this. Why! Are we lazy? Well yes, but we have also been indoctrinated into the practice of dispensing with punctuation in the limited bandwidth/limited character space of texts and tweets. So forum really does dictate format.

How did I get into this? Think I will make some typographical symbols roll off the page

So I wake up and I come to Mudcat to find out what's what, and I read the title of this thread "Resuscitate the Dead Circle".

I swear that my first thought was "Have some people stopped using circles?" How would they draw the moon when it's not half or quarter or whatever other name the moon's shapes are given?

My second thought-actually my third thought but who's counting-was "Maybe whoever started that thread is talking about a certain kind of circle-like maybe that's what a Wicca group is called (no disrespect intended for Wiccans). Maybe that group was dying out-having a batch of bad spells...I hope you excuse me. Like the guy in one of my favorite movies "Animal House", I'm on a roll (whole wheat), only it's like a sled and I don't really know what hill I'm riding down. Maybe I'll end up crash landing but I gotta keep going. I can't stop myself until I stop, if you know what I mean. It's a stream of conscious thing and I'm not gonna let my conscious bother me right now.

Anyway, I then thought "I hope somebody knows how to Resuscitate the Dead Circle 'cause I don't know what kind of CPA it would take.

But then I looked at the thread title again and realized that it was "Resuscitate The Dead Cliche".

Oh! Cliches! All the time I'm feeling ignorant and out of the information loop (I never call myself "dumb") cause I didn't know that Wiccan groups were called "Circles", and then all the time I was feeling quilty cause I knew if I saw a circle laying on the street or on a sidewalk that needed to be resucitated I would hesitate for fear of getting germs or worse from it... All that time the word was really "cliches".

"Puff Puzz Fizz Fizz. Oh what a relief it is".

Which is only a cliche in my own mind. Which is why I didn't add it to that other thread.

Now I know that some folks don't like threads that have play on words titles. But I think there is an exception to every rule (Hey! That's a cliche if I every saw one -or "said one"/"wrote one" as the case may be).

So I said to myself "Self, maybe people can have fun with a thread about bringing a circle back to life. Or maybe they prefer bring a square back. Or a triangle or question mark." (Don't ask how I got to punctation marks from geometric figures. Beats me. That's how my mind works sometimes. Remember I'm on a roll).

Or maybe we could all join hands (Kumbaya-like) and try to bring back the period. Full stop (I learned that on Mudcat. I'm so proud of myself for using it).

Periods really are in danger of needing resuscitation, especially when you're a female of a certain age. Where I live when some women have their periods, they say their "friend" has come. Well, my friend hasn't come for a long while and I'm glad about that.

Full stop and all that jazz.

So anybody wanna resuscitate a circle? Or maybe you can get your kicks tryin to resuscitate a square who turned into a beatnik and then turned back into a square. How bout resusciating an octagon? I like the sound of that shape.

And there's always the period. But maybe yours don't need resusciatation. Somehow I don't think any women would want to resusciate that kind of period-or men either for that matter.

Anyway, you're invited to join in these musings if you've a mind to.

And if not, it's all cool and the gang -which is another cliche I use which is based on the name of the Pop group so maybe this could be a music thread.
