Subject: Another young mandolin prodigy From: Murray MacLeod Date: 15 Mar 09 - 09:24 PM I do love to see and hear fast clean inventive mandolin playing, I always thought David Grisman was the dog's bollocks until I saw Chris Thile playing, and now I see this young man who goes by the name of Jacob Henry Jolliff and I expect in a few years he will be the brightest star in the mandolin firmament. He was 15 when this was recorded, he is 19 now and studying at Berklee College of Music, let's hope he doesn't lose sight of his roots. ( I wonder if he goes to the bluegrass sessions in the Cantab Bar on Mass Avenue, assuming they still take place ? ) Jacob Henry Jolliff |
