Subject: RE: Add one more to Kendall's Fan Club. From: Jim Lad Date: 19 Mar 09 - 05:25 AM I have to say that I honestly sat on my arse and just listened to Kendall while the wean skipped across the floor. At the same time, I was ripping the album to MP3 and transcribing the titles. |
Subject: RE: Add one more to Kendall's Fan Club. From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 18 Mar 09 - 09:24 PM Thanks Jim - glad to help with the papering and cleaning. Did Kendall help with the papering and cleaning? I'll bet not. Not as handsome but working on it. I'll e-mail you with info on the CD wallets if you wish. And now back to Kendall's music. Seamus |
Subject: RE: Add one more to Kendall's Fan Club. From: Jim Lad Date: 18 Mar 09 - 05:20 PM Ah Seamus: Funny you should drop in here. You are next on my list. After the last album was done, I treated myself to a day and a half of your music. What a treat to listen to a master at his craft. You papered the lobby and got the whole basement cleaned out. Thank you. Now I have a whole catalogue to choose from for my repertoire. Brenda was really impressed with your singing and playing, as was I. I'm fascinated by your CD envelopes and by how much information you manage to pack in there. You're not nearly as handsome as I but hey! You can't have everything. Your albums will be next to go in the mail. Sorry for taking so long. |
Subject: RE: Add one more to Kendall's Fan Club. From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 18 Mar 09 - 04:59 PM I'm with Jim on this. I love the old bluegrass stuff, especially Gold Watch and Chain. I also have his Lights Along the Shore CD with some wonderful cuts such as: Going Back To Where I Come From, Old Shep, Lorena, Life Gets Tedious, My Pretty Quadroon, as well as some Irish songs - Come Back Paddy Reilly, Wild Colonial Boy Mountains of Mourne, and more. Great singing and musicianship! Thanks, Kendall. Seamus |
Subject: RE: Add one more to Kendall's Fan Club. From: Jim Lad Date: 18 Mar 09 - 03:43 PM It's a collection of some of his favourites, I think. 1) I wonder where you are tonight. 2) The Girl I left in Sunny Tennessee. 3) Over the Hill to the Poorhouse. 4) Gold Watch and Chain. 5) Jesse James. 6) Darlin' Pal of Mine. 7) Navigating Across the Atlantic Ocean Towards the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. (My favourite version). |

Subject: Add one more to Kendall's Fan Club. From: Jim Lad Date: 18 Mar 09 - 02:41 PM Actually, add my name to a number of fan clubs but for now, I'll keep it to Kendall.I've just acquired a CD of Kendall and some of his friends and am in absolute awe. Banjo picking that got the wean dancing. Perfect rhythm guitar, mandolin, bass and vocals to die for. The whole thing has a very "Live, Old Ribbon Mic." feel to it which is punctuated by some impromptu joking around at the end. I am inspired now to learn some of these songs although I'd never do them the same justice. Thank You Kendall. The first one was my favourite..... and then the second..... and so on. Note to all. Between cleaning up about 3 or 4 acres of downed trees, cooking, raising a kid, cutting two albums, playing a few gigs each month, spending time with Brenda, marrying off number two son and (As of Friday the 13th.) meeting my first grandchild:..... last year was a wee bit busy. I have a mountain of CDs to listen to. Mostly exchanges from Catters as well as a bunch to mail out to those of you who are Radio Hosts. I am slowly getting it done. Thank You for your patience. |
