Here is a couple of friends of mine wearing out Sugar Baby. The band name is the Dirt Daubers. We played last night in Paducah Ky.

THE DIRT DAUBERS (Colonel JD and Jessica Wilkes)

They debuted in London England at the Raindance film fest a month or two ago.

It was a great gig.

I am glad you liked them. Next month I think they are going to be on NPR broadcast in the US. Col.JD tours Europe alot with his other band The Legendary Shack Shakers. I will post when they are going to be on NPR so if anyone wants to try to catch them they will know when. JD also writes some great songs that they are performing and will be performing with the Dirt Daubers. The band consists of Col. JD Wilkes (a Kentucky Colonel not a military Colonel) , his wife Jessica Wilkes and "Slow" Lane Hendrickson.

They are a great band and a great bunch of people with a very profound respect and love for folk and old time music. They are just starting up but are already doing great. I am not a member (unfortunately) but they asked me down last night to play with them. It was a great gig and everyone (Crowd and all) had a blast.

If they are anywhere around your area I strongly urge you to go and see them it would be well worth your trip.

thanks
JT

"a Kentucky Colonel not a military Colonel"

Can you explain that for us north of your border.

A Kentucky Colonel is an award the Governor of Kentucky gives out to people that represent the state in a good way. It is actually the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. I am a Colonel so is John Prine, even non residents Elvis was a Colonel. I got to give John Prine his award when they made him a Colonel. Col. Sanders from Ky fried Chicken was one as well lol.

The Dirt Daubers will be on The Red Barn Radio Show broadcast nationally on NPR in the US on April 8th 2009 at 8:00 pm broadcast from Lexington Kentucky.

Colonel JD Wilkes (The Legendary Shack Shakers) and his wife Jessica, along with "Slow" Layne Hendrickson, make up the hillbilly/hokum trio THE DIRT DAUBERS! Hailing from western Kentucky, these three caterwaulin' hooligans sing loud and proud an ecclectic mix of Appalachian, ragtime, and hot jazz standards and original music.

With their first ever performance having taken place at London's Raindance Film Festival, the DIRT DAUBERS are off to a rousing, rollicking start.

The Red Barn Radio Show on NPR (US)
April 8th 2009 @ 8:00pm central time zone
Lexington Ky with national broadcast

Nice to hear young un's playing the old music. Being old folks, I'd like it better slowed down a little....

Great stuff, though.

Thank you. I will try to keep you posted on shows and radio programs. They are currently working on a CD and I think they about have it finished. They have 2 songs up on their myspace page. I know for sure JD wrote the first one. I am pretty sure he wrote the second one as well. Here is the link to the myspace.

The Dirt Daubers myspace

They post all dates on the myspace page but I will try to keep everyone informed on here as well. I am proud of them working to preserve the style of music. In addition to the great originals penned by JD they incorporate plenty of songs by Clarence Ashley, Dock Boggs, and Arthur uhm Arthur Unknown lol Ok I stole that from JD lol.
I am glad ya'll are listening and glad you like it. I am really proud of them and really enjoy thier music.
thanks
JT
Oh feel free to PM me if you ever have any questions about them.

the D. Daubers rock...keep em comin' JT.

and btw, Colonel sounds better than it reads, the way it's spelled (where's the R ?) reminds me of Colon L.Oscopee who was a cousin, twice-removed, of Private Parts.... but that's another story...

I know man the spelling has always got ma with it. It looks too close to Kentucky Colonic for comfort (yes there is a pun in there somewhere). There used to be a popcorn sold around here Kentucky Kernel.

I will post more when I get it.
