Thank you very much Sandy & Gabby.
It was a little late at night and I probably did not check the index as carefully as I should have.

Hi Gest. Darned if I know either because when I go back in and look it's there in plain sight. It seems that Rabbi couldn't find it there either. By the way your site is a treasure! Thanks!

Hmmm... Can't figure out why you couldn't find it in the index, folks, except that the title is Fishin' In A Dory, not FishinG In A Dory. It's listed in the alphabetical title index.

Gest has it but I couldn't find it on their index. It came up with a site search. I know it as a Harry Hibbs song.

Fishing In A Dory

Oh, fishin' in a dory off the coast of Newfoundland,
No gold mines but cod lines, it's the life that's really grand;
The scoff of fish and brewis, it's the life that I would choose,
Fishin' in a dory in the mornin'.

Oh, fishin' in a dory off the banks of Newfoundland,
Yarnin', fish swarmin', you're actin' like a man;
If the tide is not too strong, then with you there's nothin' wrong,
Fishin' in a dory in the mornin'.

Wid ya buddy on the cuddy and the fire of birch wood,
Fatback fryin' you're enjoyin', the black tea tastes so good;
There's music in your laugh, killin' big ones with a gaff,
Fishin' in a dory in the mornin'.

Oh, fishin' in a dory off the coast of Newfoundland,
Where Nickie and Dickie and no one gives a hang;
If you catch a shark or whale, then there's no mountie on your trail,
Fishin' in a dory in the mornin'.

Hard tackie and baccy, you're a gay and happy man,
Fishin' in a trap skiff off the coast of Newfoundland;
Where seabirds cry and wail, and the wind gets in your sail,
Fishin' in a dory in the mornin'.

Oh, fishin' in a dory off the rock of Wild Cove Bight,
Foggy and groggy, the Carson heaves in sight;
If that million dollar ship, then she should offer you a lift,
There'll be glory in your dory in the mornin'.

Cussin' and fussin' off the point of Baccalieu,
Lop and tumble makes you grumble, and the foghorn goes boo-hoo;
There you'll need no overcoat, but a good manila rope,
Fishin' in a trap skiff in the mornin'.

Oh, fishin' in a sailboat, and the dawnin' gettin' red,
I have no roof for shelter, the ocean is me bed;
Clear the man and pawn me soul, now me grapnel is afoul,
Fishin' in a dory in the mornin'.

Hurry and gurry, I'm headin' home at last,
Get me auld sou'wester, stick up me jigger mast;
Now me auld six cantal punt, let me down that's what she won't,
There's story in me dory, there's glory in me dory,
I'm a tory in me dory in the mornin'.

Does anyone have the words to this Newfoundland song that was written by Paul Emberley?

It is not on Gabby Gest's website.

There are several good versions of it on You Tube but they sing it very fast and I am not familiar enough with the dialect to transcribe it.
