Edinburgh Folk Club, Wednesday 1st April 2009

"Johnny Coppin is a singer/songwriter, composer and poetry anthologist. Formerly with the folk-rock band Decameron, his many solo albums include "Forest & Vale & High Blue Hill" (Songs of Gloucestershire), "Edge of Day" - a collaboration with world-famous writer Laurie Lee, "Force of the River", "A Country Christmas" "The Shakespeare Songs" and his most recent albums "Keep the Flame" and "The Winding Stair". His clear voice together with his ability to write fine songs make his music essentially English in character while having universal appeal. Jack Russell, the Gloucestershire and ex-England wicket-keeper, is a big fan and often used to lead his team in singing one of Johnny's rousing Gloucestershire songs!

Mike Silver's songs are of longing, love and loss, perceptive and thoughtful, with haunting melodies and heart stopping lyrics. This most accomplished acoustic artist sings and records a series of thoughts and feelings that are special and magical. Yet his music addresses every day issues without being trite, reaching out to a wide audience. With a voice that is as warm and inviting as the fire in the fireplace on a cold winter's night, Mike is an outstanding treasure amidst the crowd. Recommended to all who thrive on the sensitivity of our existence; all in all he's a wonderful musician. "

A rare treat to see these veteran performers together at EFC. Don't miss this one.

As one might expect, this gig will appeal very much to lovers of song.

It's very high quality stuff and while Mike is an old friend of Scottish clubs, it is indeed a rare treat to see Johnny Coppin up here and the use of the "legend" description would certainly be no exaggeration here..

This is also part of Ceilidh Culture and tickets can also be obtained in advance from the booking office.

Otherwise, just pay at the door.
