I'm off up to Brampton/Carlisle area in Cumbria UK this Sat (28th) for a week - anyone know of any folk/acoustic sessions, open mics, gigs, etc happening up there between 28 March and 5 April? Can get round to most of Cumbria (have car).

Cheers
Sue

Push it over to The Cumberland Arms in Byker where on the first Saturday (the 4th I believe) Joe Crane genially hosts his legendary Come-All-Ye.

April 4 (1.30PM) Boat Band at Prince of Wales, Foxfield, nr Broughton in Furness, Cumbria
April 4 (when we've got bored at the Prince of Wales) Punchbowl, The Green, nr Millom, Cumbria
April 5 7.30PM Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, Cumbria

(Warning: Cumbria's a big place. Broughton and Millom are a long way from Carlisle. Considerably longer journey than Byker, for example!)

Brampton to Byker - a mere 51 miles. Not far to travel for a choice sing I'd say. Last time I was there Louis Killen was in & singing like an angel.

Try the Mostly Acoustic Cumbria website. They list folkie/acoustic/open mic stuff throughout the county. Just at this moment they only seem to have March dates displayed, but doubtless they will get the April stuff up shortly.

If you are happy to travel a bit (30ish miles north), there is a weekend of folk in Moffat - held in the pubs there. It's a free weekend and there are lots of sessions etc. It's run by Rob Malaney and I think this will be its 4th year.
See you there?

Tuesday night at the Near Boot can be good.
Alternates between a folk or a jazz session.

Sorry, dyslexic typing, hit the wrong key.
There is the monthly session at the splendid Old Crown at Hesket Newmarket on the evening of Sunday 5th April, followed by one at the Grey Bull, Scotland Road, Penrith on Monday 6th.

There's the 'anything but Irish' session (music only) at The Cumberland Arms, Byker on the 31st.
I can endorse Richard Hardaker's recommendation of the Hesket Newmarket session on the 5th. I'll be going to both if you're into car sharing. I live in Brampton. 07515 385386.

If you have any changes to the detail, can you please post on that thread and I will make any changes.

Thanks
