From: HuwG Date: 24 Apr 13 - 01:23 PM A story I once heard (in the Army, although that's by the way) was of someone who was introducing a talk by the noted explorer Sir Vivian Fuchs in Bradford Town Hall, in deepest West Yorkshire. Just in time, the man remembered to avoid any rude-sounding words, and introduced the guest as Sir Vivian "Fooks". There was a sharp intake of breath from the audience, and as Sir Vivian got to his feet and began speaking, the Lord Mayor of Bradford leaned over to the young man and said "I hope tha' realises that what tha' said were a mooky word!" |
