Subject: RE: Singtime Frolics, Oregon - March 25-27 2011 From: Genie Date: 16 Feb 11 - 05:00 PM We need to update the thread title, so it says March 25-27, 2011. Here is the link for information on this year's Singtime Frolics. You folks who go to Getaway, Rainy Camp, Vancouver Folk Festival, etc., would probably love Singtime Frolics, and it's a great excuse to come visit the beautiful Pacific Northwest if you don't live out here. This year's guest artist is American blues & roots music artist Lauren Sheehan. I'll post links to some YouTube videos from the 2008, 2009, and 2010 Singtime Frolics here too. Deadline for registering is March 11, with a discount for registrations postmarked by Feb. 18. Some partial or full scholarships are also available. Come join us. Genie |

Subject: RE: Singtime Frolics, Oregon 3/27-29/09 From: Genie Date: 22 Jan 10 - 08:33 PM 'Bout time to start a new thread for Singtime Frolics 2010. It looks like it'll be a good one, as usual. |
Subject: RE: Singtime Frolics, Oregon 3/27-29/09 From: Genie Date: 31 Aug 09 - 04:22 AM There are a few videos up at YouTube from the 2008 and 2009 Singtime Frolics. I have used cryptic titles in some cases, hoping the only people likely to "hit" on them are Mudcatters or other people familiar with and interested in Singtime. If you do a search at YT for "Singtime Frolics" it should take you to them. More to come later. |
Subject: Singtime Frolics, Oregon 3/27-29/09 From: Genie Date: 27 Mar 09 - 12:48 AM Singtime Frolics, the weekend music camp sponsored by the Portland (Oregon) Folk Music Society, starts tomorrow. Linda Waterfall, from Seattle, is the special musical guest and will be leading workshops on harmony, Hispanic folksongs, and songwriting. Zeke Hoskin, from Bellingham, WA, will be doing a workshop on jazz mandolin (sounds intriguing) and his wife, Flip Breskin, is doing one on principles of arranging for fingerpicking solos. Other scheduled workshops include Songs of Ireland (David Ingerson); Songs and Stories of the Bizarre, the Unusual, and the Unexpected (Robert Rodriguez; Carter Family guitar (Jane Keefer); and Sea Shanties (Jonathan Lay and Gordy). Singtime is always a great weekend of jam sessions, sing-alongs and song circles, and a fun Sat. night concert (not unlike the FSGW Getaway but on a smaller scale). We expect to be rained on most of the day Saturday -- it is Oregon's Willamette Valley, after all, and March -- but that seldom dampens anyone's enthusiasm for music. It just puts a damper on the outside jam sessions. Genie |
