Around about 1979, Bob Davenport did an interview with Melody Maker and criticised the nationalism he saw in folk music. Does anyone know what he said or have the interview in full?

If you're living in Britain it might be worth contacting the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library, http://www.efdss.org/library.htm , although I'm by no means certain they would have kept back issues of MM.

Regarding criticism of nationalist attitudes by Bob Davenport or anyone else, I couldn't agree more. Music should be about uniting the people of this planet, not about dividing them.

I don't remember such an interview, nor can I find it in a heap of MM cuttings. However, you could just ring up the former red-headed lad. He's in the phone book. Though I don't think you'd require a telephonic device to hear to his response.

Actually, I seem to recall that fRoots inherited the MM archives. You could try there and safeguard your eardrums.
