I wonder is someone tipped Bob off about SINS's banjo player problem, or maybe it's just a natural banjo player self defense mechanism. Forego the Deliverance jokes, the usual 'drooling-as-a-level' jokes by just 'passing' as a normal person. (Not that there's anything wrong with some banjo players.) It was good to see him there.

It was extremely good to see Dennis & Judy and hear Judy's wonderful songs and voice. We all become her confidants for the evening, and half the fun is just basking in the warm glow of her personality.

The "new" face was Bob Frost who usually wields a banjo (he, perhaps wisely, did not apprise Mary of that fact until he was leaving) and had left it in the car. He's been Tom's musical co-conspirator since the '70s and has known Judy and Dennis for a looong time (though not quite as long as his conspiracy with Tom).

He also forgot to sign the closet so, I guess, he'll HAVE to come back!

Maeve is so talented. I wish we could manage a CD of all her own songs.
Judy is a treasure. She loves her music and it comes across in each song. Dennis' harmonies are beautiful. It was a very special evening but alas no brownies. We shall try to do better next time.
So many wonderful songs - it so hard to remember them all. Titanic was wonderful, lots of great harmonies. The sly maiden who craved what was between the young man's legs and made off with his horse. Buckskin Bag Of Gold. Lorena (SIGH - that has to be the most beautiful love song ever written). The song circle that followed was a lot of fun. Tami's poem about her mother is so moving. Once Jeri has a tune for it you will all get to hear it.
Fun night and now to bed.

We've just got back home. What a great evening. We've waited quite a while to get Judy here for a house concert but the wait was worth it. Lots of wonderful songs and a wealth of knowledge as well.

Good food, good music and very good company. Who could want for more.

Thank you for another wonderful evening of music. Singing Star Judy was her usual gracious and warm-voiced self, Dennis slew the ice cream dragon so graciously the driver never took offense, Mary was the hostess with the mostest welcome and the barest apple trees, Jacqui rephrased an order as a request, and Kendall was Kendall, which is better than most folks manage. I loved seeing several familiar and one new-to-me face. Jeri, ranger1, Bat Goddess, Curmudgeon, Kathy, Bob?

Barry, "Ida Lewis" is a lovely song and Judy does it justice.

Forgive me please for leaving right after Judy's second set. I am sorry to have missed the singing that followed.

We've just come to the end of a great evening with Judy and Dennis, involving a wonderful song swap (more songs I need to learn!), after supper at a very good buffet restaurant near us.

Judy and I went out to the thrift shops this afternoon and came back well pleased with our bargains.

Actually, Sins, besides the chip & dip swimming pool bowl (filled with gummy sea creatures), I also gave you a LOVELY pink and white ceramic mouse (or was it a bunny?) cheese (or something) covered tray. Elegantly tasteful. I think salt and pepper shakers were involved as well.

Barry - Yes, I sing Ida Lewis and Grace Darling as two heroic lighthouse keepers daughters, as part of Songs of Women and The Sea. I did that show at Universities at Hull and at Leeds as well as for the Music Institute at Guildford in Surry. When I sang Ida Lewis at the clubs I didn't sing Grace Darling since it's an English song...I just referenced it.

Leadfingers - Eddie Upton!! I have not seen him for ever so long. I hope he is well & singing beautifully as ever. I'm so pleased he said nice things.

Yes, Guildford - and all of my stops in England - were lovely. I've been singing Barry Finn's Ida Lewis among others.

The Concertina has been getting some limited play.

I will, in fact, be looking for house concerts in the Midwest in Sep/Oct. From here in Maryland Cleveland looks like the Midwest, Joanne.

We have Geoff Kaufman giving a house concert here in Laurel this Friday.
