Hello, I am lookng for musicians to come and join me in a new band playing a mixture of traditional & contemporary/original folk based music (I sing anything if I like it! English, Northumbrian, Blues, Irish, Scottish, Appalachian...etc) My last band has ended due to geographical reasons...so am looking for a new one! I'm easy to get on with, reliable and excited by music. Have a good few years of playing & gigging behind me. Age immaterial. Looking for peole who want to play some music we love together, make it sound our own and get out and play it!
I sing and play flute, whistles, and a bit of mandolin and ukulele.
Looking for any of the following: fiddle, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bozouki, banjo, melodeon, accordion, plus anything else you might play musical saw, jug, bones are a bonus, ability to sing preferable too!
So if you are a decent musician looking for something new please get in touch at: sjm_76@hotmail.co.uk and we can take it from there.

Bugger! I can't apply as I am actually a Peole. My mother was a Creole and my father was a Pole - hence me being a Peole.

Seriously - I hope you get a good motley crew together and carry on the music making. Best of luck!

Could have been a shade worse, Will; if your father was a Creole and your mother a Pole, you'd have been a Crole.

But seriously folks.... I'd be interested to see what kind of group develops. Have you mentioned this elsewhere, or is it to be a Mudcat outfit? Both Will and me are too far away. Best of luck anyway.
John Kelly.

Normally you shouldn't have a problem with finding loads of musicians in the North East , but , pee-holes ? you could be struggling .

There are lots of busy people in Newcastle who dont have time for new musical ventures, and lots I havent asked too, so decided to advertise and see what happens for a change of scenery, if only I could spell people and stop asking for peoles I might get a response ha ha!

Any ideas of other places to post my ad very much welcome!!!

Actually, I was thinking since my earlier post; If I were advertising for potential group members, I'm not too sure I'd want to post here. Consider the scenario: you manage to get several mudcat musos together - friendly, knowledgable and witty bunch - and everything is going well. Then about an hour into the third practice session, somebody says something contentious, like "is this really a folk song?". Before you know what's happening, several unexpexted 'Guests' appear from nowhere, blood is drawn and you find yourself sidling towards the door muttering the immortal line......

I'll hold yer coats...

Seriously, you could try Footstompin'....no, it's not a new dance, it's a celtic music website with a forum, based in Edinburgh, but with contributors all over the place. I'd guess there might be a few 'stompers' in the north east. Can't remember the address... I always just Google it.
John Kelly.
