Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows what year the Young Folk Awards started? Who won the first one?
Did it coincide with the first Radio 2 Folk Awards for albums etc.?

They--YFA--are 10 years old now.

A three years out-of-date R2 site here lists winners from 1998 when Tim Van Eyken won it. This was the year when Smooth Operations took it over. Before that it was called The Young Tradition Award. Lists of winners of that, and the YFA winners after 2005, are somewhere up there for they who search.

It is an entirely separate event from the Folk Awards.
