Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Nick Date: 05 Apr 09 - 08:22 AM It's a nice big pub and quite posh really. I have played there in the past playing rock stuff when the previous landlord was there. If I don't go with my son to see Jan Akkerman (ex Focus) play at the Duchess in York I'll come along and listen and play a song if there's space |

Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Becks Date: 05 Apr 09 - 01:01 PM Yep there is a Singaround on first at 7.30pm followed by a Guest artistabout 8.30/8.45 - The ladies from Blind Summat followed by another singaround/session and more from us girls of Blind Summat! I am sure we will end the night with a singalongy joiny in along song or two! Future nights will be a mixture of just a singaround/session and about once a month a guest night. Annie from the New Inn plans to run the folk club on alternate Mondays with a Blues Night on the other Mondays. Annie is looking for acts to book for future nights and hoping to get a regular attendence to the singaround nights! Please come and support this new venue, it's a lovely pub! I met with her on Friday morning to do a reckie for Blind Summat and it looks very promising indeed! Becks |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Nick Date: 05 Apr 09 - 06:18 PM It's a Blind Summat gig then It'll be fun Where are the playing bits because I'd guess you aren't going to come every fortnight If I understand it goes 7:30 to 8:30 come sing and then a gig is that right? My wife and friends go to yoga on a monday in sheriff. I'm not sure what they'd be coming to after. |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: GUEST,Greycap Date: 05 Apr 09 - 06:18 PM I'll try and get there. |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Banjiman Date: 06 Apr 09 - 05:52 AM Nick, I think Becks gave a run down above of what is happening when. Greycap, I'm sure it'll be good if you can get there. |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Becks Date: 06 Apr 09 - 07:15 AM Nick, there will be a singaround between our sets, Annie is keen to do floor spots as much as possible, but she is also keen to have guests! We are aiming for 2 x 45 mins so I guess it will run something like this: 7:30 - Singaround 8:30 - Blind Summat 9:15 - 15 minute break 9:30 - Floor Spots & singaround 10:15 - Blind Summat 11:00 - Final singaround where we can all sing together! Do people think that will work? That gives 1 hour and 45 mins for floor spots and singarounds thats more than the band so should keep people happy, I hope. If people want to come up to me on the night and put there name down I shall make sure you get a spot (providing hundreds dont turn up to sing, lol). As well as Annie from the New Inn I am new to this and in the absence of an organiser I am trying to help out but I am certainly no expert! She originaly wanted just me on my own as the guest for the opening night and I advised her that she would be better either starting it with just a singaround/session for the first one to get people there or if she really wanted a guest getting a wider range of music and a fuller sound so I suggested either a duo or the band. Peole who have seen me know I am not the most traditional of performers and have quite a stark sound. Hence, Blind Summat the trio (no Paul on banjo unfortunately) where we will do a range of band and solo stuff to keep it interesting. I am trying to keep everyone happy, obviously the opening night is a little different. There will be just singaround/session nights in the future and unless Annie books anyone I think the next one which will be 20th April will be a singaround. With a Blues night on the 13th. We are doing it without a PA for the opening night as Annie is keen to keep it acoustic, will work for some but not for others. She is happy for PA's to be used also, I have a preference to acoustic where you can. There is also a few option within the pub, if it is too noisy in the main bar there is a nice snug area which is quite large with plenty of seats that could host a singaround and get a few people in for a guest night. Annie is looking to book other Acts in the future so come armed with cards, leaflets and info if you fancy a gig. She has Ric Bockner booked for the summer but as yet I think that is it. Hope that helps anyone who was looking for more info. Hope to see you there! Becks |

Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: nutty Date: 06 Apr 09 - 08:14 AM Sounds as if this should be an excellent event Does the pub have a car park suitable for camper vans? Would mine hosts encourage overnighters? |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Becks Date: 06 Apr 09 - 08:50 AM There is street parking, not sure about a car park. I shall ask the pub and report back asap! |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Becks Date: 06 Apr 09 - 10:12 AM Right I have a report back from the pub... Quote: "We're sorting some camping out, as a few others have asked. We can get a field, but no toilet facilities, so we're trying to get the football field, but I'll keep you posted on that one. " So I assume that there will be no camping / campervans tonight but will be in future. If you wanted to arrange something for tonight all I can suggest is that you contact the pub: Address: The New Inn & Fresh Restaurant 62-66 Long St, Easingwold, York, YO61 3HT Tel: 01347 822 093 info@newinneasingwold.co.uk www.newinneasingwold.co.uk Hope that helps for now. |

Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Becks Date: 06 Apr 09 - 12:32 PM Bump! |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Nicholas Waller Date: 06 Apr 09 - 02:15 PM @Becks "www.newinneasingwold.co.uk" Jus to nitpick a second, it's an attractive enough pub website but you could tell whoever does it that that there's an unnecessarily large image (presumably the lounge) on the front page - 2816 by 2112 pixels, 2.6MB, which takes a while to load even on broadband. The screen space it uses in the browser window is less than 500 by 400 pixels, so a spot of ensmallening and compression would help. |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Banjiman Date: 06 Apr 09 - 02:20 PM ......erm, I don't think Becks is responsible for the pub or its website! She'll already be there & setting up anyway by now. The folk club is run directly by the pub, Becks is just helping out with organisation for tonight. Why not email the pub and let them know! |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Nicholas Waller Date: 06 Apr 09 - 02:59 PM OK, I did. |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Becks Date: 06 Apr 09 - 07:54 PM Well as a web designer myself I agree yes it is a large image for the home page. I did not however design the website they did it themselves and I actually think for a homedone website it is pretty good! Looks nice and gives a good impression. I have seen worse ones done by people that claim to be a website designers and charge for it. But yes there are technical issues with the website but not my place to say. I personally dont really have an issue with it on my broadband and I am miles from the exchange and run on snail pace broadband. Hmmm, a John Conolly song springs to mind... Back on topic of the New Folk Club.... Thank you to everyone who turned up it was a great first night and the pub look forward to seeing more of you at the singaround on the 20th April. Sorry for my poor MC skills, we are currently looking for someone to take it on as an MC... Applications welcome, lol! Thanks again! |
Subject: RE: New Folk Club, Easingwold, N.Yorks UK From: Banjiman Date: 07 Apr 09 - 06:11 AM Well done Becks. From what I hear it was a very succesful first night. It'll be wendy's turn to babysit so I can go next time! Cheers Paul |
