Subject: RE: Old Threads From: wysiwyg Date: 08 Apr 09 - 10:07 AM CORRECTED POST, lol. There's a southern "gospel" song (slow, pretty, evocative), Old Friends, that plays in my head every time I see this thread title. "Old Threads, after all we've been thru, old threads...." ~S~

Subject: RE: Old Threads From: GUEST,DWR Date: 08 Apr 09 - 09:50 AM Well, they do go clear back into the last century! :) |
Subject: RE: Old Threads From: Peace Date: 08 Apr 09 - 01:39 AM "Any older and it will be traditional.....:-)" . . . according to the 1954 definition? |
Subject: RE: Old Threads From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Apr 09 - 11:55 PM I have to plead guilty to doing the same as Jeri. If we see a new thread starting, we often move the new messages to an older thread on the same subject, thereby eliminating duplication and those nagging messages telling people to "use the search box first." It usually seems best to keep all the information on a subject in a single thread, or in as few threads as possible. For songs, I try to move the most informative messages into a single thread, and mark that thread as an "origins" thread if it truly does give good information on the background of a song. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Old Threads From: GUEST,Gerry Date: 07 Apr 09 - 07:52 PM And here I thought this was going to be a discussion of my taste in clothing.... |
Subject: RE: Old Threads From: Jeri Date: 07 Apr 09 - 04:47 PM I combined duplicates. |
Subject: RE: Old Threads From: Sean Mc Date: 07 Apr 09 - 04:44 PM ...and I just submitted to The Last Leviathan....that's 11 years old! Any older and it will be traditional.....:-) What is more bizaar - I thought I just started this thread..now I seem to be tagging on to existing one !! |
Subject: Old Threads From: Sean Mc Date: 07 Apr 09 - 04:39 PM It's funny how old threads re-appear. I found myself in one the other day without looking at the original date. Some guy wanting a custom made bodhran tipper....but it was 10 years old. Now another one about Martin Guitars. I guess you could say 'Silver threads amongst the gold'.... or maybe not..... |
Subject: RE: Old Threads From: Little Robyn Date: 05 Apr 09 - 03:55 PM Sometimes a spammer drags them up from the depths and adds something really stupid. Often the Joe Clones manage to remove the offensive post but not before other catters have started adding to the thread and so it comes to life again. It can be a mixed blessing - when an interesting but forgotten thread is revived, people who weren't members at the time get to see it but if it's a thread with misinformation that was long dead and buried, it can open a whole new can of worms. Subject: RE: Old Threads From: MartinRyan Date: 05 Apr 09 - 09:08 AM And all the cross-referencing helps, of course. Regards |
Subject: RE: Old Threads From: wysiwyg Date: 05 Apr 09 - 09:06 AM Well, it's kind of encouraged to add to old threads rather than starting new ones, whenever feasible, so perhaps that is what you are seeing? ~S~ |
Subject: Old Threads From: folkypaul Date: 05 Apr 09 - 09:01 AM Is it me or do people have a lot of extra time on their hands lately? The number of threads that are currently running which are up to ten years old and more is ammazing. Some good, some bad but hey, that's mudcat. PaulO |
