Hope someone can illuminate me as to the cause of this quite horrible sound interference on this Myspace Page ?

Initial Wav files were converted to Mp3 at 192 kbps then uploaded to Myspace using their standard upload form. Both the initial Wav files and the Mp3's, were excellent quality *prior* to the Mp3's reaching Myspace, but become very unpleasantly distorted when played *on* Myspace.

I'd quite like to sort out this nasty glitch, but if I can't I'll just get rid of the page. I'm only a hobbyist singer so it's not important!

Thanks

No problem with the couple of tracks I listened to.

Since you indicated that you'd done some "conversions" you probably have a sound editing program, and may be using it as your default for playback. Maybe MySpace just doesn't like "sophisticated" and a simpler default player sounds better(?).

Some sites like MySpace "condense" the files you upload to a standard - usually lower - resolution to save bandwidth on the server, so what comes back isn't necessarily at the same kbps that you sent. I don't know that MySpace does this, but it seems fairly likely that they do. If you're trying to force it to play back at the original quality when the incoming is at something different it might produce some noise(?).

[Our experts will be along to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, and will be perfectly correct when they do. I don't do that much audio stuff.]

Sounds fine on my laptop. No distortion as far as I can tell.

How strange! Sounds awful to me with a nasty electrical buzzing like noise, especially at the higher notes, maybe a side effect of 'clipping' from the initial recordings - I'm wondering...
Cheers anyway.

Bugger off you sarky plonker! The nasty sounds have thoroughly annoyed me - and if I can't sort it out sharpish, I'll simply close the page down.

Sorry Sean Mc, that was an uneccessary over-reaction to a bit of light teasing... ;-)
I'm in a bit of a strop!

Sorry if I came over too sarcastic.
Yes, there are metallic noises of various types at various times.
I suggest you set up a ReverbNation account (www.reverbnation.com) and see if you get the same problems with their player. If you do, try a different MP3 generator. If you look at my site you will see that I have the ReverbNation player embedded in my page - and you are not limited to 6 songs.

Sorry again, I do understand your frustration.
Sean

Hey Sean, no problem!
My fault - I just had a sudden silly temper tantrum.
I don't usually flame, honest.
Buy the way your link doesn't work...
Cheers for the suggestions :-)

Don't know why my link isn't working - if I copy/paste it into the address bar it is fine & I used the Link Maker below. Tried again but still no luck if I test it.....now I have my own techy problems !!

Sean Mc -

Your link in the post above has an added "mudcat.org" at the beginning of the URL. I've seen that happen with the linkmaker here fairly often. It appears to assume you're linking to another thread at mudcat, so it adds it in - but only sometimes.

not http://www.mudcat.org/www.myspace.com/larryandsean

(Works in preview.)

Thanks John - I fixed this on a seperate thread.

Now I'm in trouble again from Crow Sister for hijacking her thread.

Oooh, I've been a bad boy today.

... And felt so bad about it that you tossed your cookie?

I thought what we were doin' here was keeping Crow Sister too busy to take down her music. It sounded downright purty to me, but then I don't have a very fancy setup for "critical listening."

John, I agree....and told her as much when I went to her MySpace site. The trouble is, you do tend to listen more intently to your own stuff.

As for tossing my own cookie....here in the land of Double Entendre (otherwise known as the UK) that could have a whole different meaning....however it happened !!
