Subject: Worlds of Trad Upload April 2009 From: Fred McCormick Date: 08 Apr 09 - 10:16 AM Hi folks. Just to let everyone know that the April 2009 edition of Worlds of Trad Internet Radio has been successfully uploaded, late again!!! Oh hell. Sad to say I've been ill. Not exactly a last will and testament job, I'm glad to say, but the folks didn't half rally round. Little Brother Montgomery wrote me a Prescription for the Blues, George Lewis's Ragtime Jazz Band called up Doctor Jazz, and Georgia Tom, Big Bill Broonzy and Victoria Spivey wheeled me into the operating theatre for one of those Terrible Operation Blues. The complete playlist is below and, barring accidents, eventualities, and things just plain going wrong, will be on the air until Wednesday May 13th. What's more, it's arrived just in time for May Bradley, Marion Williams, The Britannia Coconut Dancers, the Stoneman Family, Carl Smith & the Carter Sisters, and Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper to bring us good news of the festival of Easter. Also, Brownie McGhee, Bob Roberts, Big Mama Thornton, and one or two more tell us all about man's best friend; several generations of the Copper family take to the stage, as do the wonderful Breton trio, La Soeurs Goadec; there is music rowdy and refined from the Rebirth Brass Band, The Memphis Jug Band, The Folkstringers, Joey Curtin, and the Reverend Gary Davies; and there's the usual mixture of sounds authentic and exotic from everywhere and all over. Princess White and the Harlem Blues Band try to find the right keyhole; Sarah Makem sings of the Sailor Cut Down in His Prime; May Bradley sings of Sweet Swansea; and Fred Perrier tells us all about the joys of Turmut Hoeing. And if you're wondering what Eskimos do to keep warm on those long Arctic nights, you need wonder no longer. Last but not least there's are dedications to folklorist Archie Green, bluesman John Cephas, and some of the other good people who've passed away in the last month or so. To hear the programme, visit http://www.live365.com/stations/oneworldmusic , and click on the yellow speaker button. If you haven't logged on you'll need to follow the onscreen instructions to download the station player. Then wait a moment until the ads clear, press the yellow PLAY button and after a short delay the station will be on the air. Then if you press the green button to the right, you can set Worlds of Trad as a preset. That will save you having to search the next time you listen in. Fred McCormick.
