Who's Jack Hallam?

I have a collection of British folk music (60's/70's) with a nice song by Jack Hallam called "Such A Simple Thing". Anyone know anything about who he is (was?) The internet doesn't seem to be much help. I'm not British, so as far as I know he could be a household name in Britain.
