I was not aware of that. It is not impossible, since Eavis is an active supporter of some good things such as the Tolpuddle festival..

I could be mistaken but arent some of the (useable ones) tents left behind at Glastonbury collected for charity and used in needed locations elsewhere on this floating rock.

Incidentally, I thnk Glasto shares with some other rock festivals the "traditions" of (a) burning one's tents on the last night - if so be sure to leave fire gaps and have bucket of sand and another of water just in case (I am told that gaz canisters were making the last night at Download sound like the battle of the Somme) and (b) - leaving tents behind.

So if you take a large van to go there in and a wheelbarrow in it you may be able to harvest hundreds or more quidsworth of perfectly ebayable tents on the last day.

Cover the cost of the festival!

Or organise a "mudgather" of the harvestable tents and sell them to donate the net proceeds to the Mudcat...

Smedley, you should have been there about a dozen years ago, when Rolf Harris was on the Pyramid Stage. Lovely sunny day, 40,000 people waving their arms and singing along to "Two Little Boys". Fantastic.

Steve Knightley is on the Croissant Neuf stage, as is the Boat Band.On the Avalon stage there's Edward II, Seth Lakeman, Eliza Carthy. Tinariwen are on the Pyramid Stage, also they are playing on the Jazz Stage with Tunng. Baaba Maal is on the Jazz stage too.
Acouistic Satge has Fairport, Penguin Cafe and Kilfenora Ceilidh Band(I suspect not with the line-up I have on my record, it was quite a while ago!)
To diverge slightly from the folk/roots category, my personal must see favourites will be Tom Jones and Spinal Tap on the Pyramid Stage.
As always, I have no doubt the most interesting music will be people I've never heard of, that I come across in some obscure venue that I pass when on my way to see someone else. Which is why I always miss the main acts. And the most fun will be with Biggles Wartime Band, round the fire till dawn and see who else turns up to jam. That happens at a Secret Location.

As is my wont, I am trying to compile a bit of a list of people playing at Glastonbury that might be of interest to folkies or rooties (notice how I am trying avoid defining music!). The festival is so vast, it is very difficult to check the programme, and find what you are looking for. In addition, there are so many small venues that don't get their acts into the official listings, so you have to be quite serendipitous to find them. For example, I don't think the Babylon Bandstand gets into the lsitings, but I have seen all sorts of folk acts(both well-known and obscure) there.
So, if you are playing at Glasto, or know somebody that is, perhaps you could add the details to this thread.
I'll start the ball rolling

Boat Band 2.30PM Friday, Croissant Neuf Tent,
(Green area/Alternative Technology?, can't remember what they call it up the hill these days)..
