Hi all,

I just added a bunch of information about Ontario Festivals, and I thought I'd chime in here to say that while I take Marion's point about folk scenes in different parts of the country, I think there is a lot of usefulness in the listings, for a few reasons:

1) Having a listing of festivals would be interesting and useful, and there are a few places you can get a lot of that information quickly (like I just did with the Ontario festivals.

2) There are Canadian Mudcatters on here who are performers, and it might be of interest to other Canadian Mudcatters where they are going to be. There are also Mudcatters who organize events, and similarly I think it's nice to share the information about who's up to what.

3) People travel, and sometimes they want to know what's going on in another part of the country. People definitely travel long distances for festivals, but also, if I'm going to be in Vancouver for a week, I might like to know what's happening folk-wise while I'm there.

I say, let's try it and see if people find it useful or interesting.

That the whole point. I can just do a table of local folk clubs with a link to them. However I am not familiar with your area, so people like yourself would need to feed that to me. Remember that mudcatters may be in your area and would love to know whats on in the area. Your help or other mudcatters help would be invaluable.

I have tables for sessions and singarounds, so great get the data to me.

I will leave that up to the Americans to decide. I amdoing it for Joe for USA mudcatters.

No problem in doing that as well. I do it for my club in the UK :-)

I personally think it would be much better if we had a volunteer in Canada who knows the scene to handle the thread. Any volunteers. I would be able to show whoever it was, how to do it, but they would need decent Spreadsheet knowledge and the ability to get that info into the thread using HTML. I could teach themand of course Joe Offer. Any offers other than Joe Offer :-)

I am prepared to build up a diary like the ones that are now installed for the Uk and USA for Mudcat.

The only thing that I do not have, is the knowledge of Canadian folk music and where to find venues, gigs etc.

I need people to give me the information in a way that I can copy and paste so that any errors are not mine.

Please look at the UK or USA ones and you will see roughly what I need. Please don't feed me a long story. I need the relevant info for each field heading.
