West country folk clubs & gigs?

I have just been in Somerset and surrounding areas for the Lands End Trial (endurance hill climbing for road cars) and while I was there managed to get myself a couple of gigs in Bristol and near Taunton.

I was hoping to make a holiday of it and visit other folk clubs while I was there. So if anyone can suggest any that I can visit for singarounds and even a floor spot or two if possible, it would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone would consider me for a support slot anywhere to I would be very greatful!

I don't normally ask for gigs (I feel a little cheeky!) but I usually visit clubs and take part in singarounds and sessions and usually get offered a gig that way. But seeing as I am in North Yorkshire that is a little hard to do from up here!

The Bristol and Taunton venues are very flexible as to when I visit so I can work around other venues and make the most of my trip.
I was hoping to do it sometime in the early Autumn as I will have my album finished by then.

Bristol is a good area for sessions and SAR. Bath as well.

and there is always Sidmouth - a whole week to find something and you won't have to look far. I'll be the one wearing ........

Then the following w/e in Dartmoor, and then Bideford for another week.

Wadebridge BH w/e in August doesn't seem to have any plans for 2009. but keep an eye on it. Folknews Kernow (see my list of lists) has recently changed to a PDF version to avoid problems it had.

Bath: Royal Oak, Lower Bristol Road, Bath (http://www.theroyaloak-bath.co.uk/ ) wednesday nights has an 'irish' session, mainly instruments, some singing. Some nights half a dozen folks playing, other times lots and lots (great beer too). Also Bath Folk Club (http://www.bathfolkclub.org.uk/ ). Has 'singers night' every third wednesday of each month - Again, numbers vary.
