Am I the first to say "Yah boo sucks!" to all you Nostrodamians?

Oh, and before you tell me, yes, I do know that N used the old calendar, and his 4th of July will be in another twelve days, but I won't be holding my breath!

Steve (Ma Shipton's lad)

Ah, but there are still a little over 3 hours to go before the 4th is over everywhere... Who knows? We may not be out of the woo(%^(*&**(^*$@

I woke up on Sunday morning delighted to still be alive and laughing up my sleeve at old Nostril Dames. Then Mark says 'Did you know the world ends today?'. And NOW I find its not for another 12 days. I could die of the suspense.....

On a more serious note here.

In the UK, Channel 4 TV, had an entire evening devoted to shows about Nostradamus and the end of the world. One of them was a programme called The A to Z of the end of the world and it was pretty heavy depressing stuff, with visual's of fires, volcanoes, tornadoes and nuclear bombs.

I am pretty sure that the vast majority of people watching, who had a level-headed approach to life would have not been too bothered by it or would have turned it off. I do worry about the effect that 5 hours of this might have on someone who may not be feeling too optimistic at this time. It may be the 'straw that breaks the camel's back'.

One of the more mature people I visited this morning, did watch the programme and fell asleep during it. His dog nudged him and woke him up. It was dark as he had not turned the lights on earlier. The only light he could see was the flickering of flames and with the noise of the destruction in his ears, he told me that for a brief moment of panic, he really did think it was the end of the world.

All rational people KNOW that all this prediction stuff was and is nonsense. This does not stop newspapers and the media from running stories, repeating all the crackpot ideas as if there were actually some sense in them. There is some danger in this, I feel.

The truth is that you can place any meaning you choose on the original, depending on what translation you use. As the majority of us cannot unfortunately understand 16th century French, we have to rely on others to honestly do that for us.

Another wrong prediction. One o' these days someone'll get it right. But not quite yet! And when they do get it "right", they'll never be able to convince me, even with their dying breath, that it was anything but DUMB LUCK!!

Ah, Shambles, wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone was as sensible and level-headed as us, if they drove as well as us, if theyunderstood politics properly like us, if ...

'Course, I don't expect you to agree, necessarily ..!

Steve

Steve.

That is not the point I was making. I am very fortunate. I am not suicidal, do not suffer from a mental illness, depression, a temporary lack of rationality or any of a number of things but a lot of less fortunate people are. It is the effect on them that I am concerned about.

OK... people want real predictions...

I predict: The world will eventually end...somehow. Probably not entirely through something we do, but we more than likely won't be a big help.

People will continue to do good things.

People will continue to do stupid things.

The stupid things will continue to recieve more notice than the good.

Mudcatters will continue to engage in egregious thread creep, tall tales, and even occasional discussions in music.

Will those do for a start? I can predict more, or we can just throw it open.

M

SeanM, we are not worthy.

We have found our prophet.

Of course the world ended yesterday. As it will end tonight. Everything is destroyed each night when you go to sleep. Then the little clay possoms come out, from the Teddy Bears picknik in the woods owned by an old hokey pokey caller. And put everything back.

However they have a love for paperclips. They take the paperclips (and sometimes only one sock.) and hide them. From time to time the paperclips get together and become coat hangers. The possoms having no use for coat hangers bring them back (during the rebuild) and leave them in your closet. Then they replace a hair of yours with a used one. (Gray hairs are used ones.)

Happy Hollidays

Fadac, They've been visiting me a little bit too much lately. I have more coat hangers and gray hairs than I need. Craig

I had to do a bit of mending last week - some of my class were worried about this weekend. I told them it wouldn't, and if I was wrong, they could tell me on Monday. One of them spotted the paradox....

But I am cross so much was made of it. 8 - 9 year olds don't need it.

Penny
