On Sunday, May 31st at 2 PM, The Borderline will be presenting DANNY PAISLEY & THE SOUTHERN GRASS in a special Bluegrass house concert. Danny is the son of the famous Bob Paisley who passed away 5 years ago and he took over leadership of the band. Since then he has raised it to new heights and has recorded 2 albums on the Rounder label. In the opinion of many this is the premier band in the USA that plays traditional Bluegrass at its best. This will be Danny Paisley's first appearance in Rockland County as well as his first ever house concert. We were indeed very lucky to get this band for our price as we caught them in transit bewtween 2 major festivals.

The venue for this event will be Steve Shapiro's living room located a 7 - Trailside Court, New City, NY 10956. The suggested donation is $20 per person and we ask all attendees to bring a cold pot luck dessert dish to share with 4 people.

As a special highlight, the guest emcee for the afternoon will be CAROL BEAUGARD the host of radio station WFDU FM's program "Lonesome Pine RFD", a great Bluegrass musician in her own right.

Since we seat only 50 people we expect to sell out very fast. Please make your reservations early by e-mail to solz1@optonline.net or call Sol Zeller at (845)-354-4586.

This band has their own 45 foot Silver Eagle touring bus. I hope that we do not get any flack from the neighbors or local residents when this big bus pulls up to the venue and parks on the street.

I believe that we are going to have an early sellout on this one the way that Carol Beaugard is plugging it on her show.

Danny really is a great talent. He has it in his genes from his father as do all of the other musicians with him who were part of that original band.

An MP3 from Danny Paisley's new Rounder album is now up on The Borderline website for your listening pleasure. It is "Don't Throw Mamma's Flowers Away", a real tear jerker.

Go to www.borderlinefolkmusic.4themax.com and click on the Mothers Day card icon. Enjoy!

As I predicted this concert is filling up very fast.

This is really one of the best bands in bluegrass today. I've seen them several times and in fact will be seeing them this same weekend at the Strawberry Park Festival in CT. But to see them in a house concert setting will be a real treat.

Dan Paisley has a most amazing voice, and he's also a very nice man (as are all of them). We've seen that band develop over the years from the time when his Dad (Bob Paisley) was alive and still leading the band, and it's hard-driving but also expressive. Very, very good music!

Here's a photo I took of them at Thomas Point Beach in 2004:

Hi Barbara,

Coming from you, a fellow Bluegrass musician, that is a real compliment. Besides Danny's voice their instrumental skills are also quite fantastic as well.

And you can also personally testify as to how great the acoustics are in Steve Shapiro's living room having played their yourself with Shoregrass. By the way, people are still telling me that your band's performance was one of the best shows we ever put on at The Borderline.

Hope to have you back again sometimes in the future.

Regards
FAY

Hi Fay,

How nice of you to say all that!

Steve Shapiro's room has terrific acoustics (no amplification needed) and big comfortable couches and chairs. People going to hear the Paisley band up close and personal in that room are definitely going to hear some fine music in a wonderful setting. And the regulars are a friendly, fun bunch of folks.

(Be sure to have Fay tell a banjo joke...)

Hi again, Barbara.

The banjo joke I told @ your concert is the only good one I ever heard.I don't want to run the risk of repeating myself. Anyway,Danny & his guys don't give you a chance to joke. They do their own joking & tune on the fly.
If you can't get enough of Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass @ Strawberry Park, how about coming down to us on Sunday.

Regards,
Fay

At this point we can take 13 more people before we go to a waiting list. We do expect a complete sellout. I spoke with Danny this afternoon and he is really looking forward to this gig.
