Subject: Norfolk and North Suffolk What's On From: GUEST,Sarah, Barnsley Date: 21 Apr 09 - 08:42 AM http://littlebird.wikidot.com/start a few people have been asking about this in the last few months - this is the most comprehensive site I've found Sarah |
Subject: RE: Norfolk and North Suffolk What's On From: treewind Date: 22 Apr 09 - 02:54 AM Thanks for that - a useful reference. We aim to cover this (and a much wider area) on paper in Mardles with last-minute updates on the Stop Press page but since we don't have any committee members in Norfolk we can miss out on some of it so the site linked above will be useful. Subject: RE: Norfolk and North Suffolk What's On From: littlebird Date: 24 Apr 09 - 11:27 AM Hi All Alan Helsdon and I set up the littlebird website (official entry point www.littlebirdtoldme.info) recently because there's such a lot of local stuff going on that wasn't being covered. We launched a few weeks ago but are still trying to sort out feedback from the regular events (there are always cancellations, venue changes etc.) and add in the morris and other dance events. We have a links section that lists all the other event websites that we could find but for folk music. I also recommend the Norfolk Gig Guide though. It suffers from an inability to list folk music separately (they have a search tool but since "folk" matches "norfolk" it's not ideal for folkies!) but as it's maintained by the bands themselves, it often has additional stuff. Littlebird has no commercial aspect so listing is purely a service to the local folk community. Do PLEASE tell us if you spot or plan an event we haven't listed or if you have more info on something we have. Joe. |
Subject: Review: Folk Club in Norfolk and Suffolk From: GUEST,Scooter Date: 15 Dec 12 - 04:40 PM I have seen a lot of messages on mudcat about finding where folk clubs are in the UK to go along to. (Have play or listen). I found a site called LittleBirdToldMe which lists most of the events happening in the UK in Norfolk and Suffolk area. It also includes open mic nights and other events such as poetry, morris dancing etc.. as well. Worth a look if you are in or visiting East Anglia. |
