Subject: RE: Spring is (has) sprung From: Joe_F Date: 21 Apr 09 - 08:40 PM No, it's a good deal older than Piet Hein. I suspect it's anon. Spring is coming. He is? Not "He is", "It is". It is what? It is coming. What is coming? Spring is coming. He is? And bloody well about time, if you ask me. |

Subject: RE: Spring is (has) sprung From: Moses Date: 21 Apr 09 - 05:35 PM I can't remember the rest but it's said to be by Piet Hein (not sure of the spelling). The old memory is not what it was, but I think it was published in 'Motes & Beams' which I have been told is long out of print. He also wrote:- If, of thy worldly goods thou art bereft and of thy slender store, two loaves alone to thee are left sell one and with the dole buy hyacinths to feed thy soul |
