GUEST

Three years back there was a thread on this song. The lyrics were never posted, but Jim Hightower actually purchased the record and he said on the thread that he has the lyrics.

You can contact him (as of 2006 anyway) at

Seven Hills to Home
          C                     G7   C                            G7            C
Seven hills to home-- seven hills to home
                                    F                                                                  C
Though the days have passed away and bigger worlds I roam
                G7                                                                                                    C
I'm always looking forward to those seven hills to home
                                                       G7                              F                                        C
When I was young I used to ride an old black horse to school
                                     G7                               F                                     C
Seven hills I had to cross to learn the golden rule
                                                                           G7                      F                                                       C
When school let out in the evenin' time- around about half-passed four
                   D                                                                         G7
I'd saddle up my old black horse and ride those hills once more
                         C       G7 C                              G7          C
Seven hills to home-- seven hills to home
                                     F                                                                         C
Though the way was filled with hardship - as o'er those hills I'd roam
                D                                                                  G7
I'd sing and pass the time of day- til' I reached my home
                         C      G7   C                              G7          C
Seven hills to home-- Seven hills to home

Though the days have passed away and bigger worlds I roam
I'm always looking forward to those seven hills to home

Life is full of ups and downs-no matter what we do
Dreams which seem so bright today- just don't seem to come true
And so we ride the hills of life and count them as we go
Ah! The next one will be better and we'll get there we know

Seven hills to home-- seven hills to home

Though the way was filled with hardship- as o'er those hills I'd roam
I'd sing and pass the time of day- til' I reached my home

Seven hills to home-- seven hills to home

Though the days haved passed away and bigger worlds I roam
I'm always looking forward to those seven hills to home
             F             C
          Hills to home

(When I pasted it the chords didn't fit-- but here's the words)

I remember this song from the early fifties- I was about 17,living in Dallas. I worked at a Safeway store on Ross ave. There was a little cafe next door and they had it on the jukebox. I spent many a nickle listening to it. At one time I knew the lyrics, but like everything else I soon forgot all but one verse. I spent yrs. trying to find it. A friend called me and said they had it on E-Bay- I gave the 78 to him for finding it and put it on file. I liked the flip-side as well. If you want them, let me know and I'll put it on a cd and send to you.-- jimhigh@hotmail.com -- Check out my web www.texasballads.com

I'm the "guest" at the top of the page, my Dad use to sing me this song.
Thanks so much!! I've wondered about that song for years. I wish my Dad were still alive to know all this.
Mary

Mary, your Dad knows. How could he not when he's got a daughter who treasures memories like this.
