'Any singarounds?? '

They always have piles!

**********

Tim and Ann,

Main seshes will be Royal Oak, the pub's big enough to support several of 'em.

Last year, there were four simultaneously in different parts've the premises with no interference from one to another.

Other seshes at Morris Dancer pub on main site & weather permitting in the beer garden round the back, also various sings & seshes on other parts of the pub's periphery.

The Farmers Arms also has seshes, but mostly instrumental ones.

Mrs Happy & the Fiddle-dee-dee group will be doing several performances there.

Always lots seshes onb the camp field too

Its next week!! - Yipppeee!

I start work on site from next Wednesday, helping with the set up team, erecting fences, gatehouses, laying out pathways & so on.

I look at it each year as the 'Folk Kibbutz'!!

Session usually held in the Marquee after the evening concerts. Hope to see you on wed evening Mr. Happy. I will probably spend Thursday morning helping to fill the barrels with water at the variuos fire points. But I will spend wed & thurs nights getting the feel of the place!!!

Mr Happy & the Gloom Band will form part of the advance party & will be setting up camp from Wed 20th May.

Consequently, our sinaround at the Carlton in Chester won't be on there that night, instead we'll be holding our soiree at one've the Kelsall pubs.

Can't yet say which one, hopefully the Morris Dancer, or if not, either the Oak, or the Farmers

Funfairs are a pretty modern version of what folks do, and that is what folkies are about, surely? Would a victorian funfair be more in keeping. Steamboats and Tunnels of Love (who said the Victorians didn't have a subtle smutty sense of humour?)

But yes they are noisey and always were, as I recall from my relatively recent youth.

Sadly I can't do Chippenham and Chester and the 1 hour drive v 3 hours rather clinches it.

I'll be doing my Child Ballad show on Monday at 4 pm, and hope to have a tune with Greg Stephens at some point, if I don't get sucked into an argument with Suibhne O'Piobaireachd about the 1954 definition!

Not the Oak that I'm aware of but there is a monthly Folk Night in the Farmer's Arms in Kelsall on the second Tuesday - next one Tue 9th June, starts around 8:30. There is a regular core of around 10 people and others drop in now and then, usually a good night.

There may be a Sunday lunchtime/afternoon session in the Morris Dancer but not sure whether that still runs. Will try to find out and post back. Lots of things going on in Chester itself - probably the Folk Orbit website is the best place to find out.

The festival was superb - must get my feedback form filled in and sent off!

A good festival, just a couple of tricky manoevrings up the hill, even the tractor got stuck but the weather improved, some late night sessions on site, plenty in the pubs. Mr happy must have enjoyed the Morris Dancer's happy hour 5 -- 7, and £2 per pint!!

Layout tight but use of 2 overflow sites was ok. Very little trouble. Just two incidents which were nipped in the bud very quickly but very safe feeling on site.
