Spoons workshop as usual (Sunday), just in case there's a few of you who haven't learnt to play them yet.

We've been upgraded to concert spots this year (woohoo!) so I think we'd better start rehearsing soon.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

I do hope everyone knows that the Sat & Sun 4pm ceilidhs are likely to be running, otherwise we could be a bit thinner than thin.

Spread the word.

I will be at the evening ceilidhs, or words will be spilt over stewarding.

Mudgathers aren't an exact science I'm afraid Silas. It;'s generally a gathering of MudCatters (and other interested parties) and at Upton it's a programmed event with grateful thanks to the Organisers!   We meet, sing, laugh, eat chocolate, hug, drink beer, etc. etc. See you there?

Don't forget that the organisers are starting on the Friday with a 'meet & greet' event in the museum, the following is from Bev's email:

Could you tell everyone about our birthday celebration - we are going to have a gathering from 8pm on Friday night in the museum for all involved in Upton over the years. Gill and I are doing loads of grub and the first drink will be free- then bring your own! We are expecting people to drop in mingle and then go on to what they want to do. We will try to have programmes and lots of information on what's on around and we want people just to chill!

Looks like we'll miss at least the early part of the Mudgather - the Shellbacks are booked to perform at 4pm (but we don't know where yet). Looking at the songlist, it looks like a 45 minute spot, so we might join you sometime around 5 for the last hour or so.

Mudgather is at the same time as the Ceilidh under the Bridge. And if I am stewarding - can't do either.

I will be at the birthday party - having been to every one & stewarded nearly all and in the early days stewarding seemed to be 100% of the time for more than one year!

Thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of trying to listen to people in the "mudgather" over the unholy din of "Polish Paul" and his banjo & accomplices sitting just outside the (unclosable) Swan Barn door. But I think Snuffy & I made our point in the end !!And changing the chorus of "Molly Malone" to "Cockles & Mussels, and FUCK the banjo" was fun too !
Sadly,I ended up suffering with a 'flu-like condition,so missed a few things ,but I did really enjoy "Run", and "Calan" in concert(which WFD and I were stewarding),and managed to sing a bit in a workshop with Paul Sartin ,& finally made it to a Patti & Ned spoons lesson, before feeling grotty & going to bed. Highlight for me was meeting up with a former crew-member from carrier HMS Eagle, NAM(O) Gareth Davies, who now lives in Upton, and whom I hadn't seen since 1969 !!
