Yes DADGBE....I think I've saved most of them. but I'm devastated to hear that Evie's got a husband....isn't life a bitch!

There is also some great stuff on Google, really good sound quality

Hope they don't get too into the contemporary stuff, they put something special into the old tunes.

Further recommendation: I usually spend my little eMusic monthly allotment here and there, picking and choosing. but I just blew the whole 12 credits on their first album. The only real problem was choosing which album. Highly recommended. Did I say I liked them?

I hate to start anything really ridiculous, but did anyone notice that Sue Sandlin plays the tiple? There's a Mudcat recommendation right there.

Hi DADGBE, I think you are right about these kids...They've certainly got a lot of energy and can communicate their enthusiasm to the audiance, without indulging in any of the usual tricks.

Their sound is authentic, and their harmonies provide the "hook"
Evie's clogging is the icing on the cake for me, she's almost got me takin' clogging lessons...I just love it.....Ake

You have found out what some of us in the US know: the Stairwell Sisters make some of the finest old-timey music anywhere. Their fame will follow but you are among the vanguard that will say, "I saw them before they were famous."

Hello again Joe and Ron,

The Stairwells exceeded my expectations by a mile....they were magnificent, almost blowing the roof off our puir wee village hall!
About the best "old timey" music I have heard, with the bonus of Miss Dynamite (Evie Ladin) and they compared very well with Gillian and David.
After the show the girls chatted and signed CDs....no prima donna's among these lassies, they were very friendly and the Scots loved them.

I wrote a review for another site, part of which has been printed on the Stairwell Sisters website, unfortunately I.ve managed to lose the original...Ake.Cut and paste this into your post:

I was thinking the same thing, Desert Dancer. My kid performs for audiences of thousands in Europe and Japan, and for audiences of dozens here in the U.S.

Thanks Joe and Ron.....I'm going to see then in our small hall about the middle of May.
I'll be happy to write a short report for you; I've heard them perform on CD and Youtube and I'm most impressed.
I've been a fan of Gillian Welch/David Rawlings for years and I feel the Stairwells could turn out to be almost as good.

I've been playing their CD on my show for the last few months and it has received terrrific response. A very exciting recording and they are now on my list of groups I want to see live. If anyone gets a chance to see them, please share your report!

I'm surprised I haven't noticed the Stairwell Sisters until this thread. They're from Oakland, California, about a hundred miles from me. Here in California, they seem to perform in small and medium-sized venues.

I found a generous selection of videos here (click), and their Web page is http://www.stairwellsisters.com.

I suppose now that I've heard of them once, I'll hear of them all the time and find out that I have a dozen friends who know them well.

As part of their current UK tour, the Stairwell sisters are playing our little village hall, which holds about 150 people. I've managed to get a ticket and noticed that on the eleven venue tour is a performance in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, which seats thousands!

Is this a policy of the band (to play small venues) or has we just been lucky?
Any information about the girls live performances would be welcome....Ake
