Subject: Advice Please fdor Whitby Folk Festival From: Folkiedave Date: 24 Apr 09 - 04:56 PM We are lucky enough to have bought a motorhome. Anyone any experience of using one at Whitby Folk Festival? Where did you stay? How did you get into town each day? I can imagine parking is murder is that so? That sort of thing...... |
Subject: RE: Advice Please for Whitby Folk Festival From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Apr 09 - 06:19 PM Hi, Dave - We stayed in a rented house quite a distance from the festival venues. I found the bus system was very good, and that it really wasn't too difficult to walk if I missed the bus. Oh, and there was a very social atmosphere on the buses during Folk Week. I do regret that I didn't take the opportunity to walk to Robin Hood's Bay, but I took the bus there several afternoons for the wonderful pub performances. -Joe in California- |

Subject: RE: Advice Please for Whitby Folk Festival From: Bluegrassman Date: 24 Apr 09 - 07:18 PM The Whitby Community College is the place for you, some good people organise it for camping with toilets, showers, a water point and some hard standings for motor homes. The walk into Whitby is about ten or fifteen minutes to the Station Inn. The cost is competitive with regular local campsites that are usually fully booked for the folk week and none of them are as close to the town centre as the college field. You don't need to have a Folk Week ticket to use the college field. If you are getting a Folk Week ticket you can use the official folk week campsite. Details of the College field campsite are usually posted on here on the run up to folk week and you may have to book in advance. Hope this helps. |

Subject: RE: Advice Please for Whitby Folk Festival From: Rasener Date: 25 Apr 09 - 04:20 PM Dave The Whitby Community College is definately the place to be. You will not be disappointed. Glen and his team do a great job. Make your missus happy :-) I wanted to come along, but I have a dental appointment on the Friday, and my one daughter has a dental appointment on the Saturday and the other has Trampolining lessons both in Lincoln. So absolutely knackered. Very Disappointed. Say hello to Muppitz X for me. Les |
Subject: RE: Advice Please for Whitby Folk Festival From: GUEST Date: 26 Apr 09 - 11:13 AM I shall indeed say hello to muppitz and since I recently played her record - I shall expect a large hug. Booking posted tomorrow Glen. See you at Shepley. Dave |
