NTSC is pretty universal in the US, so should be no problem.

Yes it should. I assume you are in the UK therefore with our 'native' PAL. You may find that a PAL dvd will work fine too - certainly I've usually been successful with those I've sent over there. Depends on how old the player/tv is, I guess. If you convert to NTSC when you burn it you might find the conversion makes it a little jerky. Try both for her and see which she finds best!

I want to burn a DVD to send to one of my sisters in Denver (whom I have never met yet but that's a long story). Can someone please confirm that if I burn it in NTSC format it will play on the machines in the States.

She is growing old gracefully, but still rejects all suggestions that she could easily master the basics of a cumputer, so emailing files is not an option.
