Subject: BS: ADSL 2+ :upgrade problems

My ISP recently upgraded to the faster ADSL 2+ - I was told all I had to do was to reboot my router to use the new service, but when I tried this, there was no longer a connection. On phoning the helpline I was told the router was probably not compatible with 2+ and I would need to replace it -there had been no warning before that I would need to do this. Bit of a cheek I thought as it cost £70 and took a day to get it all sorted.

Anyone else a similar experience with this upgrade?

An all too common problem with ADSL
they never tell you that or stop to think that many people are using an older router ... It hasn't happened to me but a lot of folks I know ... I have received several calls from friends that the same thing happened to .. worse yet is some of the older routers do work, however they will drop a connection at random intervals so you work, then you don't then you do then you don't ...

best thing for anyone changing is to make sure your router is compatible by looking up the make and model on the web or talking to their service provider. Actually I would suggest before upgrading just plan on spending money on a new router if yours over 4 years old. Probably the best approach
