The charity shops of Lewes, Sussex, UK are braced for the onslaught as Lynne Heraud and Pat Turner prepare to sweep through the town like a devouring flame on Saturday 13th 16th May.

Once their appetite for useful, curious and amusing artifacts has been temporarily sated they will delight the public at the Lewes Saturday Folk Club with their usual range of songs from high tragedy to ingenious smut in fine and delicate vocal harmony.

Floor singers welcome - admission £5. Bring an instrument to join in the usual tunes at the start.

Valmai (Lewes)

Sorry! A senior moment there. The girls are appearing here on Saturday 16th. May.

Could an elf possibly alter the date in the thread title?

Many thanks,

Valmai

Many thanks, Joe. That's very good of you.

While I'm here, I'll add that I've asked them to do the Hoover Dustette number. It brings tears to the eyes of all audience members, although for different reasons.

Tootle pip,

Valmai

I'm committed to being in Dorset on Saturday, but Lynne and Pat are wonderful, and so is the Hoover Dustette number!

I rather think that Lynne and Pat's ceremonial progress through the charity shops of Lewes should be marked by a brace of buglers, heralds with banners, a bloke going ahead with a broom to sweep the horseshit off the pavement and the plebs out of the way, and a large cart at the rear with armed guards to hold their purchases.

All good Lewes rituals bring the traffic to a halt, after all.

Tootle pip,

Valmai

LOL!! Have the charity shops been warned? Honestly, Lynne and Pat should not be missed, if anyone has a chance to go, just go! You'll have a fabulous evening. Just don't expext there to be any bargains left in Lewes afterwards....

My fascination with the Hoover Dustette number may be the reason my Dyson packed up yesterday, no doubt feeling itself unable to compete.

I'll just have to fall back on the faithful old broomstick.

Had hoped to pop down but we ran late & couldn't. How'd it go? Anything left in the charity shops?

As predicted, it was an excellent night with an audience full of singers. Lynne and Pat got the best out of our fine new acoustics, every detail of their phrasing pin-sharp.

Amazingly, the charity shops haven't been left with bare shelves. The girls bought some birthday cards - Lynne said she thought the price was a bit steep considering they'd already been written in - but not much else. Could it be that the Lewes shops don't meet their exacting standards, or could it be that they in fact refilled them with things bought in Tunbridge Wells and posher places and now surplus to requirements?

Tootle pip,

Valmai
