Hey Dipsodeb, cheers :), and same to you folks likewise! Be good to be able to get to know peeps a bit better next weekend in fact, as I've only done a couple of song sessions thus far.

Anyway, after youse all singing 'Drink to the Men', I'm thinking of raising the bar regards colourful songs for the lasses.

So, if we have a Strumpet, a Doxy and and a pox ridden Hussy hanging around this rat infested midden (Essex Slapper is taken), would they kindly present (fishnet stockings and peep-hole frillies optional...)?

It was great to see some faces I have not seen in nearly a Year. Iam pleased my Tanglewood was kept busy in my absence. I was not two put out about having to leave because I know I will being seeing you lot all over again at Knockholt but I did not want to go regardless.

Woopdsie you photos are very good especially the photo showing Essex Girl looking so peaceful and out of it. and a big cheesy grin to boot. What ever is Alf doing with whatever that Green stuff is he clutching

Had a great time, and then some. Great weather and a big thanks to Linda for the home brew - it was fabulous. Also to Woodsie for acquiring some more beer for me. That was a BIG bottle of red plonk, so he didn't manage to finish it, so I gave it a little bit more help, but there's still some left.

Great singing and playing fom all of you, all in all a thoroughly pleasant way to spend a Sunday. Another BIG thankyou goes you Linda for the use of the caravan overnight - we slept well and left at about 09:30.

I only drank one bottle of the 2 of Jacques Cider I brought, but today I feel quite horrible. I think though it is reaction to sun (burned on one side) which is not unusual for me. Very bad sore throat and sneezing this morning. As I ate both some sausage and a bit of chinese chicken maybe I have BBQ Swine or Bird flu.

Music was wonderful, friends were wonderfuller.

Hope these guitar strings hold out, I thought I had some spares, but I think I remember giving them away a year or so ago. The current strings are about 3 years old. Hey a BBQ for my Birthday - what great idea. I was born in Essex 50 odd years ago but have lived in Australia since the 60's. I've often wondered what folk music is played around Essex and in my few trips I have tried (not very successfully) to find a session. As for the weather it's a problem the world over, when I left home a few days ago it was cold and wet and threatening to snow. Only a few months ago it was 40+ degrees and threatening to burst into flames. I'm in Thailand at the moment where it's hot and wet and threatening to rain.

But there is always time for a tune and song so enjoy your BBQ and my birthday and have a drink for me please.

I can come but I will have to go to work at about 4.30. I wont be able to bring a Instument because Iam not allowed to bring instuments to work anymore due to being caught to many times at night playing them when I should be working so I am not allowed to take instuments In. Quite right. Trevor, Ben. James and myself came up to the one with The Amazing Mr Smith. It was the last time that I saw Viva, and she was so pleased to see a familiar face.Billybob's garden is quite big, and there is plenty of room inside and out of the marquee. Bill's barbie is excellent and the closest thing to his shed is that of Dillygaf's at the last barbecue - if you get my drift.

The 18th is a "house" ( in marquee) concert with John Barden, but in the past have then carried on into the wee small hours as a sing along,Billy does a barby and we provide the food, everyone brings their own drink. Usually we start early evening.A few beds provided or loads of floor space.( or Dave Bryants boat is on the drive with a bunk or two!!!!) Girl Friday has been to one so she can say how good, or bad, they are!
Yes the garden is behind our house and our house is near Walton on the Naze, and the concerts started because we all had withdrawal symptoms when the Walton Festival died, so we try to get together a couple of times a year.everyone welcome and you dont need a passport to cross over to Essex!

It's that time of year again folks!!! The annual folk BBQ will be on 14th June. Usual setup - bring and burn and I'll lay on the salads, bread etc plus 5 gallons of homebrew. All 'catters welcome. For those of you who would like to come but haven't been before please PM me for details. (And I know it clashes with other events but so do most events at this time of year)
