Subject: RE: 2009 BBQ 14 June (UK) From: Crow Sister (off with the fairies) Date: 15 Jun 09 - 01:42 PM Hey Dipsodeb, cheers :), and same to you folks likewise! Be good to be able to get to know peeps a bit better next weekend in fact, as I've only done a couple of song sessions thus far. Anyway, after youse all singing 'Drink to the Men', I'm thinking of raising the bar regards colourful songs for the lasses. So, if we have a Strumpet, a Doxy and and a pox ridden Hussy hanging around this rat infested midden (Essex Slapper is taken), would they kindly present (fishnet stockings and peep-hole frillies optional...)? Anyone fancy having a go at The Four Old Whores of Baltimore? One verse a piece, and shared chorus. So who's up ferret? Holds breath........... ;-) Couple of YouTubes for the tune here: Four Old Whores of Baltimore (I love this version) Four Old Whores Lyrics: Four Old Whores There were four old whores from Baltimore Drinking beer and wine. The topic of conversation was "Mine is bigger than thine.' cho: Roly, poly, tickle my hole-y, Smell of my slimy slough. Then drag your nuts across my guts, I'm one of the whorey crew. The first old whore from Baltimore said, "Mine's as big as the air. The birds fly in, the birds fly out, And never touch a hair." The second old whore from Baltimore said, "Mine's as big as the moon. The men jump in, the men jump out, And never touch the womb." The third old whore from Baltimore said, "Mine's as big as the sea. The ships sail in, the ships sail out, And leave their rigging free." The fourth old whore from Baltimore said, "Mine's the biggest of all. A man went up in the springtime, And didn't come out till fall." |

Great weather and a big thanks to Linda for the home brew - it was fabulous. Also to Woodsie for acquiring some more beer for me. That was a BIG bottle of red plonk, so he didn't manage to finish it, so I gave it a little bit more help, but there's still some left. Great singing and playing fom all of you, all in all a thoroughly pleasant way to spend a Sunday. Another BIG thankyou goes you Linda for the use of the caravan overnight - we slept well and left at about 09:30. John Barden |

Hi to Ladyraffles *waves*! Everyone was lovely, as they always are! Cheers to VTam & TS1 for rides and putting up with my incessant drunkardly jabbering all the way home: what alcohol takes away in the form of words to songs (three times...), it generously gives back threefold, in the form of enthused witterings! Much looking forward to my first Knockholt. See you'se all this Saturday. |

Really enjoyed the singing & music, great to see everyone again and to meet and hear Crow Sister, the food was amazing I woke up thinking about that rice and bean salad and there was another lovely pasta dish with dill. Looking forward to doing it all again at Knockholt, sorry you won't be there naughtyforty but will catch up with you at Song & ale. |

Subject: RE: 2009 BBQ 14 June (UK) From: VirginiaTam Date: 15 Jun 09 - 03:08 AM P le C - Chicken was gooooood! Thank you. Sure wish you could've stayed. Woodsie - that Nottamun Town was off the cuff. Crow Sister and I need to do some practice together on that and few other pieces. Thanks to all the ladies who accompanied me on Advice to the Ladies. And Richard Bridge for being appropriately excited by the sheep verses. And for John Barden's good humour when I accused him of wearing my tights. Royston - I love that Robin Hood and his Merryie men song. I only drank one bottle of the 2 of Jacques Cider I brought, but today I feel quite horrible. I think though it is reaction to sun (burned on one side) which is not unusual for me. Very bad sore throat and sneezing this morning. As I ate both some sausage and a bit of chinese chicken maybe I have BBQ Swine or Bird flu. Music was wonderful, friends were wonderfuller. Thank you Linda for hosting it. See y'all at Knockholt. |

Subject: RE: 2009 BBQ 14 June (UK) From: GUEST,Phil Date: 11 Jun 09 - 05:50 AM Hey a BBQ for my Birthday - what great idea. I was born in Essex 50 odd years ago but have lived in Australia since the 60's. I've often wondered what folk music is played around Essex and in my few trips I have tried (not very successfully) to find a session. As for the weather it's a problem the world over, when I left home a few days ago it was cold and wet and threatening to snow. Only a few months ago it was 40+ degrees and threatening to burst into flames. I'm in Thailand at the moment where it's hot and wet and threatening to rain. But there is always time for a tune and song so enjoy your BBQ and my birthday and have a drink for me please. |

Thats all there is to it(Bloody fasists) I will be Knockholt on the Wednesday. The only way I can bring a Guitar with me to the BBQ is to arrive with it at Linda,s and ask politely if some one will take it to Knockholt for me? tHERE AGAIN IF i DO COME i WILL PROBOBLY SLIP OFF SOME WHERE AND PHONE IN A SICKIE ANYWAY.
