Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: GUEST,Ed Date: 18 May 09 - 03:43 PM Banjiman: Hold up, I thought this thread was supposed to be a bit of a laugh? I thought so too. The fact that Banjoman (unfortunately close to your name...) has posted his pathetic The melodeon is the last refuge of the musically incompetent. comment to a 4th different thread really pissed me off. Where's your genius myspace page, Banjoman???? What's the bet that Tim Van Eyken can play better Banjo than him. Mmmm, I wonder Ed |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: manitas_at_work Date: 18 May 09 - 11:30 AM He's just jealous. Melodeons are louder and if they're out of tune it's not the player's fault. |

Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: GUEST Date: 18 May 09 - 11:26 AM The melodeon is the last refuge of the musically incompetent. Yes Banjoman, why have you had to post that exact same sentence to 4 different threads? Arsehole |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Les in Chorlton Date: 18 May 09 - 11:17 AM Banjoman, you seem to have some doubts about what you think and are prepared to say about melodeons and the people who play them. Don't be afraid of offending people or appearing a bit rude and unpleasant. Best wishes L in C |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: banjoman Date: 18 May 09 - 11:04 AM A great idea: all melodeons suck (and blow). The melodeon is the last refuge of the musically incompetent. |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Les in Chorlton Date: 18 May 09 - 07:26 AM Ask not what a melodeon can do for you Ask what you can do for your melodeon Or possibly your friends melodeon Cheers L in C Banjo and Bar |

Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Tug the Cox Date: 18 May 09 - 06:39 AM What is perfect pitch? You pitch a melodeon over a wall and it lands on a banjo! ( I squeeze on an agony bag, mostly supported by a very good banjo player!) |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Banjiman Date: 18 May 09 - 06:20 AM "Why didn't they start with the banjos?" Maybe kindling for the melodeons (& melodians). Could we top the whole thing off with Martin Guitars and those who play them? Just a thought........ |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Artful Codger Date: 18 May 09 - 06:15 AM Why didn't they start with the banjos? |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Les in Chorlton Date: 18 May 09 - 05:12 AM Just remember friends: First they came or the melodeons I did not complain, for I did not play the melodeon And then they came for the banjos ................. Cheers L in C |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 May 09 - 05:06 AM Any day is good for me... where do you want the lighter fuel? Should I bring my own matches? Is Rolf Harris going to be asked to be honorary president? LTS |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: doc.tom Date: 18 May 09 - 04:30 AM Anyone who can make a melodeon sound like a musical instrument is all right with me! |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Herga Kitty Date: 17 May 09 - 07:20 PM I can think of lots of good melodeon players (including Rich), which suggests that the problem is the guys (and gals) who play badly... so you could adapt the Artful Codger's idea, and burn the guy on Bonfire Night rather than the instrument? Kitty |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: GUEST,Rich Arrowsmith Date: 17 May 09 - 06:41 PM Burn them, burn them all!!! Including my six! |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: Artful Codger Date: 17 May 09 - 06:04 PM Try Guy Fawkes Day. It's cost effective and you needn't take out your own permits. Besides, you won't feel so lonely. |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: greg stephens Date: 17 May 09 - 03:10 PM Personally, I think the Melodians recording of Rivers of Babylon is a stunning all time classic, and any suggestion of burning it would be extremmely regrettable. |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: The Borchester Echo Date: 17 May 09 - 03:08 PM I've stood and listened to some of the best music ever outside Strasbourg Cathedral. However, back home in Wood Green Shopping City, the Romanians still turn up following their victory over the jobsworth police, playing lots of stuff on violins and squeezy things. And long may they, |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 17 May 09 - 03:02 PM Bad idea! Last week I was visiting the cathedral in Strasbourg. To be specific, I was standing at the edge of an aisle, admiring the western window. A guide decided that I (a heavy, nearsighted woman with a cane) was in her way, and she charged up to me, waving a stick in my face. I responded in the only rational way - I spun around and snarled at her. I left the cathedral and paused in the square to calm down. Across the square, a gypsy was playing the melodeon. That music floated through the sunny air, so friendly and tranquil. It was just what I needed after the unchristian behavior of that guide. The world needs more music like that. |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: MartinRyan Date: 17 May 09 - 02:58 PM He, he.... Now if it was (or were, as a true pedant would say), umpteen-bass piano accordions..... Regards |
Subject: RE: National Melodian burning day From: MartinRyan Date: 17 May 09 - 02:56 PM Seems a rather harsh (not to mention possibly racist) suggestion for The Melodians. Still, whatever turns you on.... ;>) Regards |
