In 1971 I was living in Berserkeley and I remember seeing a PBS broadcast of the Philadelphia Folk Festival with Utah Phillips, John Denver, Steve Goodman, John Prine & others. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this. Do any still exist? Does anyone else remember this?

I'm sure the Philly Folk Song society or Gene Shay has a copy, but I do not think it is commercially available.

Gene used some clips from the PBS documentary in the 40th anniversary boxed set that came out.   

I also have a promo copy of an LP that PBS sent out to radio stations to help promote the series back when it first aired.

I have talked to Gene who said that he didn't know if the video was still around. I'll have to ask again.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I swear that I recall Gene saying they used footage from that documentary in the boxed set. I am also thinking that they have shown footage from it on the large screens at the festival in recent years, but there is a good chance that they used other footage.   Gene would know, and his memory is a lot better than mine!!

I wish I could find bits of this somewhere - anywhere! I used to run home from things to watch it. I think there were 13 shows in the series. I remember especially Martin Carthy doing Prince Heathen. I was never the same ...
