Subject: Adam McNaughton @ Finlay Allison, EFC From: Johnny J Date: 21 May 09 - 04:29 AM Adam McNaughton with Finlay Allison, Edinburgh Folk Club, Wednesday 27th May 2009 Venue: Pleasance Cabaret Bar - 8:00pm Admission: £7.00 (£6.00 concession) Adam McNaughtan is a Scottish folk singer and song writer, noted for his songs on post-War Glasgow. Amongst his works are The Jeely Piece Song, a humorous song about tower blocks and Where Is The Glasgow That I Used To Know, which was quoted by Prince Charles at the opening of the 1988 Glasgow Garden Festival. A product of the Scottish Folk Revival of the 60s, he has been writing, collecting and singing songs for three decades and has become one of the best-loved Glasgow characters. Surprisingly, this is Adam's first ever solo gig at Edinburgh Folk Club although he has appeared as part of The Carrying Stream and also with Stramash over the years. We look forward to a whole evening of song and humour in Adam's own inimitable style. On this occasion, Adam will be accompanied by Finlay Allison who is a fine exponent of the fiddle, mandolin, and other stringy things. ;-) |
