For all my friends who lost loved ones, this is from my heart , it ain't much but it is the best I can do

Memorial Day by olddude

with love
Dan

Lyrics:

I can see you ... although you may be gone I can hear you
You live inside the song - of
The birds that sing in the summer wind, in the sound of a newborn cry

For in my heart you're with me still and always on my mind

I can touch you, When I feel the sunlight on my face I can hold you
As I look around this quiet place, there are memories here of all the years I had you by my side

For in my heart you're with me still and always on my mind

Chorus:

As I look out on rolling waves that wash upon the shore
In the nighttime sky when the stars are out you're here with me once   more
For in the world the joy and pain the runs the sands of time
And in my heart you're with me still, and always on my mind

I can see you; in the echo of the mountains I can hear you
Through the Valley deep and wide- in the gentle pines and growing fields in the clouds up in the sky
For in my heart you're with me still and always on my mind

You have a great touch as a songwriter........rates right up there with the song for your daughter which is truly beautiful.

Hard to believe a jackwad like yourself can crank this stuff out........must be a savant thing...............

Well Dan, whatever your reasons, your songs/poems are from the heart and as opposed to the current crop of navel gazers, your stuff speaks to and for anyone.....and that is the art.

Very nice Dan. Earlier today I went out to a country graveyard to place flowers for my dad, brother and my mom's folks. So I was already reflective of lost loved ones when I came on this thread and listened to your beautiful song.

It's very beautiful, Dan.

As I've said before, you have a wonderful gift of writing songs that touch the hearts of others.

I think that kind heart of yours has something to do with it.

And just in case there are folks out there who've not yet found Dan's page...here it is:
