Hi everyone - I'm new here, and I hope I'm not breaking some kind of etiquette rule by posting this. Please be gentle with me if I have!

I've played the guitar rather badly for many years now, just strumming a few self-taught chords, but I'd really like to start playing something a bit more complex. I'm very into Kate Rusby, and I love the guitar style on her songs, but I'd have no idea of where to start teaching myself to play like that.
I'm currently studying in Leicester (East Midlands, UK) and wondered if any locals knew of a teacher who might be patient enough to take me on?

I'd be really grateful for any help you could offer.

Rosie x

I would suggest you look into one of the local Music shops . They usually have notice boards , and probably know a few good teachers anyway !

If Ken Wilson (Bodgers mate, Acoustic alternative) still lives in Leicester, he's your man.

Go to sheehans music services shop about a hundred yards up the road from the railway station on the same side and ask in there.

They have a list of folkie guitar teachers and others covering a pretty broad spectrum of expertise and price.

I would recommend you ask for Rick Willson, though you may find that he is unavailable as he is generally very busy.

Steve Hicks is a terrific player, and can teach a variety of styles. If you Google him, you'll find his website, with samples and contact details.
