Subject: Lyr Add: MR SCHWINN (Darryl Purpose & R M Fisher) From: katlaughing Date: 23 May 09 - 11:57 PM Here are the lyrics for the first song by Darryl Purpose from HIS WEBSITE: MR. SCHWINN Darryl Purpose & Robert Morgan Fisher ©1996 Mr. Schwinn was as thin as a pelican's grin And I took him my bike when the wheel wouldn't spin When the wheel wouldn't spin or the gear wouldn't shift For fixin' a bike the man had a gift They were stashed in the back of his waterfront shack His and her bikes, perfectly matched Perfectly matched, like a groom and a bride Waiting to take that honeymoon ride CHORUS: He'd say one of these bikes is more than a twin As he pumped up the tires and polished the rim I'm saving it for my Mrs. Schwinn The tires and wires filled me with desire And the sprockets and streamers were truly admired Were truly admired by all kinds of folks Who watched as he carefully tightened the spokes Yes the chrome really shone but if truth be known At the end of the day he went home alone Yes he went home alone by way of the pier And watched the tide turn and the sun disappear CHORUS: He'd say one of these bikes is more than a twin As he oiled the chain and polished the rim I'm saving it for my Mrs. Schwinn INSTRUMENTAL VERSE CHORUS: He'd say one of these bikes is more than a twin As he tested the brakes and polished the rim I'm saving it for my Mrs. Schwinn Yesterday was the day that I heard someone say The old man at the bicycle shop passed away Mr. Schwinn passed away and my wife and I cried Cause he never did take that honeymoon ride 'Twas with grim discipline that the town buried him And the gravestone revealed that his name wasn't Schwinn No his name wasn't Schwinn, But I'll tell you with pride That he gave me the groom, and my wife the bride Mr. Schwinn was as thin as a pelican's grin And I took him my bike when the wheel wouldn't spin When the wheel wouldn't spin or the gear wouldn't shift For fixin' a bike the man had a gift |

Subject: RE: Mr Schwim and Hard From: Mallee Date: 24 May 09 - 01:26 AM Thanks for the info. So it.s Darryl not johnny. Great clip always wondered what he looked like. The other singer of HARD sounds like a Londoner using words like Hard and nutter but that's where my knowledge ends. But i would think with the standard of his work he has an audience. |
Subject: RE: Mr Schwinn and Hard (two separate songs) From: katlaughing Date: 24 May 09 - 01:50 AM You're welcome. That one was relatively easy. The "Hard" one may be just that.:-) That is such a generic term to search...still, there may be someone here who knows it. Eventually these kinds of requests always get answered at the Mudcat. Thanks, again, kat |
Subject: Lyr Add: HARD (Chris Wood) From: The Borchester Echo Date: 24 May 09 - 05:02 AM Hard: Chris Wood, Trespasser RUF CD10 He took her hat and he threw it hard It came to rest in the schoolyard So she took his specs from off his face Sir Isaac Newton took care of the rest She's hard, my daughter's hard She's only six but don't cross her Watch out here she comes lock up your sons She takes right after her mother She's hard my daughter's hard There's no doubt in the world she's a nutter But when she's with me it's plain to see She melts and softens like butter There's Gregory Peck on Sunday TV Chasing poor Moby Dick over the sea Then the camera pans past a harpooner's bum Like a flash she turns round and winks at her mum She's hard my daughter's hard She's only six but don't cross her Watch out here she comes lock up your sons She takes right after her mother She's hard my daughter's hard There's no doubt in the world she's a nutter But when she's with me She melts and softens like butter There's Jimi Hendrix in his big limousine There's a pretty young girl there beside him He offers her wine and she drinks from the cup In a trick of my light of my daughter's grown up Hard no it's not hard Why ever else would we do it We drew back the bow then let it go Hit the target and carried on through it Hard of course it's not hard There's no better reason for living Cause when she's with me it's plain to see I get much more than I'm giving. |
