Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: GUEST,Meadowmuskrat Date: 27 May 09 - 06:19 PM No idea where Herga is, but I don't think its near New jersey where I saw him a few months ago. He is definetly worth seeing, very professional, with many of his own songs and some covers as well. I believe his "Jewel of Paris" the 2nd song of a proposed trilogy will become a classic. you won't be disappointed. |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: George Papavgeris Date: 27 May 09 - 06:27 PM Nowhere near Jersey, New or old - it's at the Pinner Green Social Club, Rickmansworth Road, Pinner, Middlesex HA5 3TJ(NW London for those not adhering to the ancient borough lines) |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: breezy Date: 27 May 09 - 08:24 PM Better run through B Privateers on Monday eh? to make him feel at home. |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 27 May 09 - 10:42 PM I also highly recommend Nathan! We presented him at the Hurdy Gurdy here in New Jersey back in February and he put on an outstanding concert! Don't miss him!!!! |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: breezy Date: 28 May 09 - 06:13 AM and he's on down in Ivybridge, Devon, England, at Folk on the moor, or should that now be re-written as Folk Off the moor, no disrespect to Dartmoor meant Sun 7th June he'll get to hear owa Wee Benny Campbell |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: Zorg Date: 28 May 09 - 03:22 PM Refresh |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: breezy Date: 28 May 09 - 06:50 PM twas mentioned at Redbourn tonight, |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: MoorleyMan Date: 29 May 09 - 04:28 AM And if you're not within spitting distance of the mighty Herga, Nathan's going to be the guest at York's BBC-award-winning Black Swan folk club on Thursday 18th June. Eagerly awaited... and yes I'll have one of Stan's ready too, just to make him welcome! |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: Backwoodsman Date: 29 May 09 - 05:41 AM Brown Cow FC, Mansfield, 9th June. I'll be there. |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: George Papavgeris Date: 29 May 09 - 05:44 AM Perhaps I should brush up "I wish I could have met you"... |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: breezy Date: 29 May 09 - 06:27 AM I am sure that Nathan Rogers would just love to travel these lands and everynight hear loads of wannabees sing-murder his father's songs. It'll save a paying audience from hearing some of them done by the son who can do them so well that it would be difficult to tell which was the original Give the night over to Nathan, but at Herga they'll have Dan Mackinnon from Halifax N S who is widely regarded as a tribute to S R though he is now highly regarded a one of Canada's leading singer/songwriters I can understand why certain main acts request that they dont want other floor singers to perform when they guest. |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: Backwoodsman Date: 29 May 09 - 07:56 AM I wouldn't dare to sing one of Stan's songs when Nathan's present, Breezy. Words like 'No' and 'Contest' spring to mind! I might be a fighter, but I know when I 'm licked! :-) |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: breezy Date: 29 May 09 - 10:30 AM It does take confidence in ones ability to perform a song in front of the author, or in this case , his heir. It'll be interesting to hear Dan sing a Stan as he is famous for doing them exceedingly well as was/is Mary Mellor who did a fair job of 'spreading the word' so to speak At Stanfest they devote an hour on the main stage to singing Stan's songs in his memory maybe they'll, D and N duet? Who knows, come and find out, it'll be great whatever happens |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: Backwoodsman Date: 29 May 09 - 03:51 PM Bit too far, Breezy. But I'll be at The Brown Cow. Woo-hoo! |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: Art Thieme Date: 29 May 09 - 09:55 PM Are there sound clips of the young man anywhere on tghe web? I'd love to hear him! |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: breezy Date: 30 May 09 - 05:21 PM You tube him theres loads but the quality does not do him justice |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga From: George Papavgeris Date: 31 May 09 - 02:52 PM I was pulling legs when I said I'd do "I wish I could have met you", I wouldn't dare! Anyway, Ariel has a copy of it, probably long consigned to the dustbin. But Breezy is right, Stan songs should be off the menu in support of Nathan on the night. For a start, we don't know which ones he would like to do himself, if any. And appreciation of the guys Dad can be best shown in other ways - and should not go over the top, Nathan is an artist in his own right. |

It's cold and, errrr........breezy.........hereabouts! But it'll be warm and wunnerful in the Brahn Cow tonight! |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga (8 Jun 2009) From: Backwoodsman Date: 10 Jun 09 - 03:28 AM It were a champion night at t'Brown Cow last night. The Man was in excellent form and blew the assembled multitude away with his larger-than-life personality, fiery passion in performance, and great songs (including a couple of dad's). He and Bob spoke very highly of the good folks at Herga, especially the quality of the supporting performers and the fabulous chorus-singing of the audience. Sounds as though you had a cracker down there. As for Mansfield - the boy done good, dead good! |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga (8 Jun 2009) From: breezy Date: 10 Jun 09 - 04:34 AM Thank you bkwdsmn, he brings a breath of fresh Canadian air and carries so much more on his shoulders but does so with responsibility, respect for those who went before and we should thank him for that. Did you get N W passage ? I have to admit that Herga can boast in having more than its fair share of performing singers in its ranks but so does the Bodmin club. So whose on next week? |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga (8 Jun 2009) From: breezy Date: 10 Jun 09 - 04:36 AM anyone going to hear him in Edinburgh tonight, or does the cat not infiltrate that far. Hello ! |
Subject: RE: Nathan Rogers at Herga (8 Jun 2009) From: Backwoodsman Date: 10 Jun 09 - 06:29 AM "he brings a breath of fresh Canadian air and carries so much more on his shoulders but does so with responsibility, respect for those who went before and we should thank him for that" He certainly does, Breezy. He's one impressive and talented young man, who gives a nod to his ancestry as a mark of respect, but resists the temptation to be SR Jr, and is at all times NR Sr. A friendlier, more likeable guy it would be hard to find, and Mrs. Fenswoman and I had a lovely evening in his company and Bob's. We did indeed have 'NW Passage'(and joined in with great gusto!)! And 'The Field Behind The Plow', and Archie's 'Haul Away'. The joining-in was great and Nathan seemed very pleased with the reception he got. I believe Bob's hoping Archie will join them in Embra tonight - now that would be some show! All the best. |
