Subject: WildWillyBarrett@FaldingworthLive 13June From: Rasener Date: 01 Jun 09 - 02:13 AM Faldingworth Live Saturday June 13th 2009 Wild Willy Barrett Bad Boys Band and Mary Holland in Concert Webpage Wild Willy Barrett Willy Barrett - Acoustic guitar, slide guitar, fiddle, banjo, balalaika. Barrett is best known for his early success with John Otway in the 70's when they rocked the UK with their hit 'cor baby that's really free'. Although he still works with Otway from time to time, his versatility has given him scope to perform in a wide variety of guises, including as band-leader with the inimitable Bad Boys Band. Mary Holland - cello, piano, percussion. Since appearing as a child in the screen production of Bugsy Malone, Mary has moved on to such diverse activities as playing cello with an Egyptian bellydance troupe and drumming with a touring Samba band. Just don't ask her to bellydance! John Devine - uilleann pipes, whistles, harmonium, percussion. Coming from an Irish traditional background with contemporary influences, John's original style allows his soul to shine through in his playing. He has his roots firmly fixed in his Irish heritage and works to keep the Celtic aural tradition alive and kicking. Pete Waters - formerly of The Plastic Paddys, performs traditional Irish music and song on acoustic guitar. As well as performing as a solo artist, he fronts the excellent Ballyhooley a five piece rocking irish band. He is also a member of Wild Willy Barrett's Bad Boys Band. Pete can also be found at the occasional traditional Irish session. His solo performances can encompass anything from an unaccompanied Irish ballad thru to country, funk, pop, reggae or original material from his forthcoming album. At present based in St. Albans but shortly relocating to Ireland now is the time to catch him. Support Big Al Whittle My name is Big Al Whittle and I regard myself as a folksinger/guitarist and songwriter. Folkmusic has always been my interest since I was about fifteen and I heard the my first Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch and Tom Paxton albums. Although by then, I was already an enthusiastic strummer. Those guys influenced me to become a finger picker of the guitar.
