Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 02 Jun 09 - 04:35 PM Wait a minute here! Some of us Decembrites are grateful that our birthdays get forgotten. Yeah, it was a pain in the ass when we were kids, but now that we've passed the age where birthdays are a big deal, it's kinda nice to just pass the day like any other. So where's my friggin' present? |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: My guru always said Date: 03 Jun 09 - 04:31 PM Thanks so much katDear, what a lovely thought & much appreciated! I have been casting around for someone to swop my birthday with this year so I can have a party for my 50th during the Summer. So far I've had no takers, can't say I'm surprised! Hil x |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: banjoman Date: 04 Dec 19 - 05:17 AM I was told at an early age that as my birthday was mid December I could not expect a present as it was too near Christmas. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: banjoman Date: 04 Dec 19 - 05:18 AM PS. 76 next week and now recovering from a minor stroke which puts playing out for a while Pete |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 06 Dec 19 - 01:59 PM … but I suppose that 'eric' does not have a December birthday. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Steve Shaw Date: 07 Dec 19 - 05:33 AM My daughter was due on Boxing Day but arrived on the 22nd (many moons ago). I hear that there's a campaign started by bitter December babies to have sex banned in March. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: BTMP Date: 07 Dec 19 - 11:16 AM Thanks for remembering the December boys and girls, Kat. Warmest regards ... Btmp |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Black belt caterpillar wrestler Date: 07 Dec 19 - 01:38 PM I should have been a Christmas Day baby but arrived early. The fact I am named Robin is not actually related! Robin |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: HuwG Date: 07 Dec 19 - 03:50 PM How nice to be remebered, I'm still around, though I haven't played for a couple of years. Sixty years old rolled around a couple of years ago, and almost simultaneously three great nieces and nephews arrived, making me feel very old, and I was diagnosed with a couple of potentially very severe illnesses. With a rather lean pension pot, the first priority has been to hang on to the IT job. So far, so good, but I have not been able to enjoy long roistering evenings of song. Situation to be reviewed annually. Huw |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 08 Dec 19 - 04:05 PM Super! Four Mudcat members have stood up to be counted. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Steve Shaw Date: 08 Dec 19 - 07:40 PM One... |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Severn Date: 08 Dec 19 - 09:25 PM I was born on December 30th. Too close to Christmas, much too close to New years. I have learned to live with or without. It's no big thing, really, but I'm glad I don't have to live off the rewards other than life itself...... |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 10 Dec 19 - 09:31 AM My birthday used to be December 31st, but I've changed it. Being a New Year's Eve baby worked fine in my hedonistic younger days, but now it only gives people a false impression. My behavior and lifestyle no longer reflect the spirit of the day, so I mow celebrate my birthday on September 14th, a date so boring that the most interesting thing that has ever happened on it is the first observation of gravitational waves in 2015. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Donuel Date: 11 Dec 19 - 11:18 AM The clever BWL |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Noreen Date: 13 Dec 19 - 06:04 PM I'm still here though not as often as I was. Lovely to have a reminder of katlaughing and happy, friendly Mudcat times! I will be 61 on the 16th and still In My Prime, singing, playing and dancing ;) Happy Birthday to all the other December babies too. xx |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: beachcomber Date: 19 Dec 19 - 12:12 PM Well I WAS born on Christmas Day, in 1939, and, I have a twin brother. We used to always enjoy Christmas Day, apart from any Birthday considerations, even when we were boys. We always got presents from various relatives and friends of my parents, which were , usually, marked "To share between you for Xmas, and for your Birthday !" It wasn't until we became old enough to realise that we were being "cheated" out of loads more pressies, "conned" out of more goodies, that we began to wish that we had been born at some other time of the year. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Steve Shaw Date: 19 Dec 19 - 06:11 PM Happy 80th to come, beachcomber! Mrs Steve and I were bemoaning our terrible planning earlier this evening. Our wedding anniversary is Dec 18 and our beloved daughter's birthday is Dec 22. And we're having to do a staggered Christmas this year, one lot on Christmas Day and another lot three days later. Two turkeys, two lots of stuffing, two flippin' lots of everything. We're currently in manic mode... |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 22 Dec 19 - 02:37 PM So, the list compiled in the OP by the late lamented katlaughing can be augmented to include these names: Dave Hanson banjoman Black belt caterpillar wrestler Severn beachcomber (+ twin brother) |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 26 Dec 19 - 08:21 PM ... and we're back online. Hope Beachcomber and his twin brother had a happy and healthy Christmas birthday. And refreshing so as to stay in the queue for Severn and bee dubya ell even though he says he changed his birthday. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Gurney Date: 27 Dec 19 - 10:52 PM Her Indoors was born on a Dec 22, and she was heartily sick, in childhood, of the "This present is for your birthday AND Christmas!" rubbish. I showed her this thread and she thanks you, Kat. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 28 Dec 19 - 11:07 AM Azizi was before my time, but her Mudcat posts are most edifying. Wherever she is, I hope she had a happy birthday. |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 29 Dec 19 - 02:29 PM what's French about a bathroom? |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 29 Dec 19 - 02:42 PM By the way, changing my birthday from December 31st to September 14th DOES NOT mean you must wait until that date to shower me with gifts. Gift showers on December 31 are still just dandy. In fact. gift showers are welcome at any time, on any date. No occasion required. (No fruitcakes or pickled pork products, please.) |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Severn Date: 29 Dec 19 - 09:21 PM Keberoxu, I thought you were talking about a bidet..... |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: EBarnacle Date: 31 Dec 19 - 12:59 PM From the other side of the birthday problem. Lady Hillary and I had a grephew born this month. We are not sure whether this makes us grand- or great- so, until this is resolved within the family, we are opting for Graunt and Gruncle. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 31 Dec 19 - 05:49 PM Mazel Tov, EBarnacle! (but don't ask me -- I could never sort out the distinctions going from '--mother' and '--father' to the aunt-and-uncle category either.) |

Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Joe Offer Date: 11 Dec 21 - 09:41 PM I attended a 100th birthday party today for my friend Barbara (the actual birthday was yesterday, December 10, and Christina and I sang a birthday song to her voicemail. She's been talking about this birthday for years, and I'm so glad it happened. We used to sing together once a month, but that has fallen by the wayside. Nonetheless, we call each other every year year and make up birthday songs for each other. We laugh and have a good time, and I'm not sure anybody else gets it - but I love Barbara. Happy birthday, Barbara Butterfly!! -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: beachcomber Date: 14 Dec 21 - 07:47 PM I want to wish all Mudcatters a very Happy Christmas, but in Particular Steve Shaw and Kerberoxu. It was only today that I saw their kind wishes of some years ago !!!, I'll include Banjoman too in the wishes and hope that the arthritis is being managed. I have it also and it makes playing guitar or banjo a bit painful (Mind you people have been telling me that about my playing for many, many years in any case :-) |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: keberoxu Date: 16 Dec 21 - 08:33 PM I believe Dave Hanson also has a December birthday. |
Subject: RE: Happy Birthday December babies! From: Joe Offer Date: 17 Dec 21 - 06:48 AM I'm Happy Birthday to my December wife, Christina. I wanted to take her out to lunch, but we spent two days waiting for the power company repairman to come. |
