Subject: The Rose Tattoo Rides Again! From: Mark Ross Date: 02 Jun 09 - 06:14 PM Once again The Rose Tattoo that far-flung, near mytholgical group of Hoboes, Tramps, Layabouts & Ne'er Do Wells heads for the back of beyond to plan the lightning fast repartee and lukewarm guitar licks for their upcoming shows in Northern California. The result of all this last minute scheming can be seen Friday,June 5 at the Oddffellows Hall(appropriately enough) in Nevada City, June 7 at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, and June 8th at Don Quixote's in Felton(near Santa Cruz). This years edition of the Tatto consists of; Kuddie, The Feather River Kid, Mark Ross(Smokestack)Americas' Most Famous Unknown Folksinger, JB Freeman(The Iceman Cometh), Bob & Diana Suckiel(Boomer Bob & Mama Pipes), John Weiss(Seattles' answer to Buddha), Bodie & Jackson Wagner, and last but now least Brendan Phillips(Utahs' son) CAVEAT AUDITOR, hope to see you folks from 'Catland there. Subject: RE: The Rose Tattoo Rides Again! From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Jun 09 - 02:42 AM Click here for information on the Rose Tattoo concert Sunday June 7, in Berkeley, California - 7:30 PM at the Frieight & Salvage. Click here for the information about the Rose Tattoo concert in Felton, near Santa Cruz, California - Monday, June 8, 8 PM. It was a very enjoyable concert at the Oddfellowe Hall in Nevada City this evening. I've been there only for contra dances, but now I know it makes a very good venue for concerts. It's an old building, a second-floor hall behind the National Hotel. It was a little smokey where we arrived, and many in the audience were coughing. I suspect some of the cast may have been enjoying "recreational inhalants".... There were 9 or 10 members of the Rose Tattoo present, half for the first set and half for the second. Each person took turns performing, a mixture of Utah Phillips and a few other songs. Mudcatter Mark Ross played harmonica, guitar, and banjo - and he played a mean dobro on "Starlight on the Rails" and several other songs. The only song the whole group sang together was the closing song, "Hallelujah I'm a Bum." Thanks for coming, Mark. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: The Rose Tattoo Rides Again! From: Deckman Date: 06 Jun 09 - 10:19 AM Joe ... thanks a lot for posting the information as well as the concert review. One of our bestest friends is a member of the Rose tattoo ... and I'm not surprised the stage area was a bit smoggy! CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson |
