Subject: Meet the British From: GUEST,davyr Date: 05 Jun 09 - 05:39 AM Anybody catch this compilation of short government-sponsored films intended to portray an "ideal version of Britain" to foreigners (BBC4)? Some gems from the 60s and 70s and generally a good laugh - UK viewers can watch on iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00kv0d0/Meet_the_British/ There was a brief glimpse of Moulton Morris dancing at (I believe) the George Inn at Southwark in the opening sequence - probably 1979-ish. A bit fuzzy, but the musician (back partly to the camera) is almost certainly Dave Jolly, and it looks like Barry Care dancing at Number 1. |

Subject: RE: Meet the British From: GUEST Date: 05 Jun 09 - 08:17 AM Moulton were/are good mates with Westminster Morris, so I'm guessing the occasion might have been a Westminster Day of Dance... |

Subject: RE: Meet the British From: Anne Lister Date: 05 Jun 09 - 01:36 PM It was fab. I particularly liked the early sequence about catching a bus back from a country walk - and the chap with his powered device to swim faster. |
