Mine as well! It was so great to hear these two again as I don't often get the chance. I think what was special for me was to hear them do songs that I had not heard before.

Haven't had the chance to hear them live, but wouldn't pass up the chance; I really like what I've heard on record.

Good to see that John and Tony are still doing the occasional gig; They'll be performing as part of the Old Songs concert series on Nov. 1 in Voorheesville, NY. Also, they'll be doing their annual Holiday show,Nowell Sing We Clear, joined by Fred Breunig and Andy Davis in several different venues.

sigh... I so wish *I* had been there too!!!

Any review of these guys has to contain creative superlatives. From the first time I saw them live at Holstein's in Chicago in the mid 80s to a couple years back at Fox Valley in Illinois, they have never been anything but a total delight. My favorite concert was the one (and only, dagnabbit) they did here in Cleveland. The review in our group's newsletter contained a drawing of them singing and dancing, done by the young daughters of a friend who'd been "dragged along" only to be utterly charmed and wildly enthusiastic about them from concert time on. Best concert review we ever had of one of the best concerts.

They're almost a genre unto themselves & there are so many of us who cite them as the source of songs worked into our repertoires. And wouldn't it be GRAND to have a Roberts & Barrand song book?

Adoration and envy from afar-

Joanne in Cleveland

LOVE these guys. It was the Live at Holsteins record, or maybe the one with "Save Your Money While You're Young" and "Young Albert and the Lion" - - I got them both around the same time - - that first made me so smitten. Feel fortunate to have seen them perform any number of times in the northeast over the past fifteen years, and I know many of you go back decades farther with them.

I was so glad to see that they will be performing at the Old Songs concert series in November. Here's to them!

It's very good to see via these messages that John & Tony are held in such esteem over there. They have been flying the Brit traditional music flag succesfully for a long time and have made a deep inpression. It's not just that they are Brits that they do so well. I have seen them loads of times and I can ntell you that it is the standard of their performance that earns them their praise. This and their wonderful attitude onstage. If they were to come back to England they would soon be among the top attractions on our folk scene. I wish they would, but with their level of their status with you Americans, I guess it's highly unlikely. Good luck to the lads. They deserve all the praise they get.

I remember seeing them at the Ark in Ann Arbor in the 90s. Always a BRILLIANT evening!

Just a couple of gigs for J&T this November - Old Songs, Voorheesville NY, Nov 1 as noted, and Cornell Folk Song Society, Ithaca NY on Nov 9. Hope some of you can make it. Sorry it won't be you, Roy, but thanks for the nice words.
