Subject: RE: Any Fests this weekend From: GUEST,cujimmy Date: 09 Jun 09 - 07:46 PM Thankyou for sujjestions so far, I know that Archie Fisher is playing at the Red Shed on Saturday and my friend Ewan McLennan is the support (wee plug for you Ewan / Grampus) and I'm tempted to go. But I get one Sunday every five off at work - so I try to go to a festival. I dont mind travelling but to get down south I would have to go via the M62, M60, M6 M4 M5 etc and I hate those roads. There is bound to be something going on in Yorks, Lancs, Lincs, Chesh, Derbys, the N of England or the S of Scotland. Anybody any ideas. Thanks for your help - regards - jimmy |

Subject: RE: Any Fests this weekend From: Rasener Date: 10 Jun 09 - 01:04 AM There is this event that might interest you. Crich Tramway Village, nr Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 5DP. Telephone: 01773 854321 Folk Weekend - 13th & 14th Local musicians, with traditional trams, music, and dance throughout the Museum. With Legendary Julie Felix on performing on Sunday. It is difficult to find out who and what as the main idea is that you visit Crich Tramway Village and they throw in the music free. At least thats what I think happens. The village is very in teresting in its own right, so whatever the standard of the folk music is, just adds the icing to the cake so to speak. Personally (if it sounds interesting) I would give them a ring and see if you can find out some more about the event. Website http://www.tramway.co.uk/smx/cms/home/ Maybe there are some mudcatters who have been to this event in the past and can shed a bit more light on the event. |

Subject: RE: Any Fests this weekend From: Rasener Date: 10 Jun 09 - 01:27 AM I have just seen that Sapper82 has already started a thread on this, nobody has posted on it yet. Subject: Crich Tramway Folk Weekend 2009 From: sapper82 - PM Date: 18 May 09 - 04:21 PM Once again t'other½ has arrived home with a great wodge of leaflets advertising the above event and telling me to shove a posting up on here to publicise it! Seriously though, Saturday and Sunday, the 13th and 14th of June, look like been a good time at Crich Tramway Village. On Saturday there will be local musicians & dancers performing whilst travelling on the trams, sipping tea in the tea rooms and downing ale in the pub. On Sunday will be the same again PLUS A Grand Folk Concert starting at 1:30 with Keith Kendrick & Sylvia Needham, Shep Woolley and, making a return appearance, Julie Felix. Admission for each day is the standard £10.50 for adults, £5.50 children, £9.50 Senior Citizens with a Family Ticket for £29.50. There is no extra charge for the concert. |

Subject: RE: Any Fests this weekend From: GUEST,cujimmy Date: 10 Jun 09 - 03:30 AM Thanks Villan, I have noticed the tramway Fest, but I enjoy singing myself so are there any singarounds, sessions etc, is there camping available and can I get drunk - my protocol at festivals is sing songs - get drunk - and make friends - retire to my tent late at night or eventially, then get up next morning and do it all again. Is there anything on in Geordieland, Makemland, yon place they hung that poor french monkey, chilly jockoland, thanks again vilan regards cuj |
