I just happened across this on you tube. Very interesting.

Various cities have these big singalongs I guess. They also have dancing in food courts and train stations in England, Belgium, probably elsewhere. Everyone looks like they are having fun...Real life Coke commercials...mg

How dare you post that link. I am way too old, too sarcastic, too egocentric and far too cynical to be sitting at my pc, before 8.00 am with tears pouring down my face and thinking that somehow, somewhere there is hope for us!
You should be ashamed of yourself!

Eddie

It is quite interesting that these gatherings probably need licences under the Licensing Act, but are not getting them, and not getting prosecuted - only real music venues suffer that.

Does someone smell advertising money?

Excerpted from "The Queen Mab Speech" in Romeo and Juliet

O, then, Mr. Bridge,

I see Queen Mab hath been with you.
She is the fairies' midwife,

Drawn with a team of little atomies
Athwart men's noses as they lie asleep;

And in this state she gallops night by night
Through lovers' brains, and then they dream of love;

O'er lawyers' fingers, who straight dream on fees,
And then dreams he of smelling out a suit.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

This is that very Mab ...that bakes the elflocks in foul sluttish hairs

Richard, figure out who would be landlord of Trafalgar Square and get back to us.

I think they should do it again, this time in a slightly higher key. Nonetheless, it's charming to watch.

Did they pass out microphones to the masses? How many, I wonder, and did they get them all back?

It looked like some people were singing into their cell phones while others have wireless microphones. Might T-mobile have published a number to call that would patch the "caller" (singer) into the live sound system?

As a technical excercise it was a stunning bit of work. Mic quality throughout so no, it wasn't done on mobile phones. Fairly obviously many of the singers holding mics were planted. But the final mix with emphasis on the singer in close up at the time, was excellent.

Andy (Also moved to tears by the hidden message )

Just go to that one and it should lead you to more..Edinburgh, Cardiff, quite a few places....wish they would sing boogy woogy dancing shoes in Sweden...

Also check out the singing revolution...was it Latvia? Lithuania?

And did you see the Iranians dancing in the streets last night?

It reminds me of when they danced on the Brandenburg gates when the Berlin Wall came down (which I was there around that time and scratched some of it out with my bare nails). mg
