Subject: Lyr Add: PAST THE POINT OF RESCUE (Mick Hanly) From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 21 Jul 06 - 11:52 AM Hal Ketchum PAST THE POINT OF RESCUE (Mick Hanly) Last night I dreamed you were back again Larger than life again, holding me tight again Placing those same kisses on my brow Sweeter than ever now, lord I remember how Couldn't get enough of kissing, do you know how much you're missing No you don't, but I do The days like a slow train trickle by And even the words that I write refuse to fly All I can hear is your song haunting me Can't get the melody out of my head, you see Distractions are amusing, do you know how much you're losing No you don't, but I do But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue Is no word from you at all the best that you can do I never meant to push or shove you, do you know how much I love you No you don't, but I do I swore I'd never fall like this again Fools like me never win, came to my knees again Can't close the door on likely hood Things might be just as good, I always believed they would Gotta let your love invite me, baby do you think it might be No you don't, but I do But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue Is no word from you at all the best that you can do I never meant to push or shove you, do you know how much I love you No you don't, but I do But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue Is no word from you at all the best that you can do I never meant to push or shove you, do you know how much I love you No you don't, but I do I know you don't, but I do I know you don't, but I do |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Mick Hanley From: Declan Date: 12 Jun 09 - 03:34 AM Mick has written many fine songs including Past the Point of Rescue. His early recordings were more in the folk idiom but has switched to a more country style singing mainly self-written material for many years now. He was also a member of Moving Hearts for a while in the early 80s. Philip Donnelly is an excellent guitarist born in Dublin and is back living in Ireland after spending some years in the US where he worked with people like Donovan, John Prine and the Everleys. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Mick Hanley - Past the Point of Rescue From: Declan Date: 17 Jun 09 - 02:49 AM Mick also had a band in the '80s called Rusty Old Halo, whose CD of the same name is worth a listen if you can find it anywhere. |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Mick Hanley - Past the Point of Rescue From: GUEST,jeff Date: 18 Jun 09 - 01:11 AM Remember hating Hal Ketchem's version as I was a DJ for a small country radio station in the earky 80s. Didn't hear Mick Hanley's version until many years later and still think of it as the most tastefully produced song I've ever heard. Everthing, but the kitchen sink and yet not a note out of place...absolutely brill. Have it on a mix w/Mary Black, Maura O'Connell, Planxty, Patrick Street, Loreena McKennit, Philomeana Bagley, Andy M. Stewart, Paul Brady, Kornog, Robbie O'Connell, Mary Coughlin, Something Happens, Altan, Andy Devine, etc. and it's still my 'go to' cd after about 15 years. Never gets old. |
